Looking for fantasy advice from anyone who knows their stuff:
I am in a 12 team AL-only league (we also use the Cubs and Brewers to create local interest). Salary cap league, 25 man rosters, $280 cap.
I can keep 5 players for this coming season....I have 9 that are potentially worthy of being kept....
I WILL keep:
Justin Verlander $7 (Approx. value $30)
Joel Zumaya $6 (Approx. value $10, if he gets closer job $30)
Jeremy Sowers $4 (Approx. value $18)
Huston Street $9 (Approx. value $32)
My FIFTH keeper could be any of the following....who would you keep?
Gary Matthews, Jr. $1 (Approx. value $15)
Brandon Inge $1 (Approx. value $15)
Mark DeRosa $2 (Approx. value $15 because of 4 position eligibility)
Craig Hansen $1 (Approx. value $1...but if he's closing could be worth $30)
Matt Garza $6 (Sleeper. Value undetermined)

Isn't Chien-Ming Wang from Korea? Or is he from Taiwan (which would be Chinese)?CaptainP wrote:The Yanks officially signed Kei Igawa.
They now have a Chinese guy and a Japanese guy in their rotation.
Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

All indications out of Boston is it's Piniero's job to lose!!!CaptainP wrote:Here's an interesting topic...who will be the closer in Boston?
Papelbon is moving to the rotation.
Could be Craig Hansen (I hope so...on my fantasy team), Mike Timlin, Brenden Donnelly, or even recently acquired starter Joel Piniero.

Actually, that method for producing championships doesn't hold water. The great Yankmee teams of the 90's were built on their farm system and with trades. Free agents had little impact on those teams' success. Subsequent years saw the increased use of free agency with mixed results. I've always attributed this shift in philosophy to the increased influence of George and the Tampa group away from Brian Cashman. With Cashman back in charge I expect NY to continue to compete on a regular basis by restocking the minor leauges. That's the only reasoning I can put behind this trade of Randy Johnson. He may have been inconsistant, but he is still a force on the mound more often than not. I am truly glad to see him gone from the AL East! He was 7-1 against the Sox in 2 years (NY 10-2 in games he pitched against Boston).Sidew13 wrote:I agree, treat each other with respect. I fully understand I support the "Lightning Rod" Franchise that breeds love or hate. A stat like this will make people hate you for sure:
The New York Yankees have won twenty-six World Series championships, more than any other franchise and more than the combined number of titles won by the next three most successful clubs in the World Series.
Anyway, here's hoping we treat each other with respect in this thread ( myself included).....![]()
I just hate the whole throw money out there and win a title concept. Or when people like Steriod Bonds makes the news.

It'd really help my fantasy team to have Hansen win that job!!!TommyBahama wrote:All indications out of Boston is it's Piniero's job to lose!!!CaptainP wrote:Here's an interesting topic...who will be the closer in Boston?

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.
