Sounds like a small thing, but they changed the gas tank designs in 1971.![]()
Anyhoo, shipped back the wrong one, and they're sending out the right one. Looks promising, though.
Got the (correct) assembly manual in the mail last night, and pg. 416 has the EXACT diagram I needed!
Time to start wrenchin' again. Only 3 more months till convertible weather!![]()
Thanks again for all the help.

Thanks to help from Auntie and all the BN'ers who responded, I got the gas tank, engine and tranny back in the car. Hauled it up to the local shop a few weeks ago to get the exhaust put on.
Stopped by today and the car is RUNNING!!! (First time it's been fired since about '94)
The shop still has a couple of things to tweak (loose flange on the exhaust) but I should get to drop the top and take off sometime next week. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
Thanks again to all.

I know, I know, I know.... I'll get one up soon. I've had the ragtop in the shop waiting for a part for the emergency brake. Haven't had the chance to get her on the road much yet.phjrsaunt wrote:Still looking for a picture![]()
Should be picking it up tonight, tho... pics soon.... I PROMISE!!

Picture Time!!!
A while back, I asked for some help finding diagrams to re-assemble my '72 Skylark convertible. As always, BN'ers came through (thanks to Auntie especially!)
In case you're curious, I bought this thing almost 15 years ago and yanked out the engine/tranny (350, 350 turbo) after the tranny died. Since then, we've moved 4 times, had two kids, and changed jobs twice. Long story short, we were getting ready to move again (different house, same town) and the wife said the car could only go if it moved under its own power. So... NOW the car has a newly rebuilt 455 with a Turbo 400 tranny and YES IT MOVES! (if you know what I mean
)
As of today, the car has tags, is on the road, and for the next few days will be my daily driver (a deer jumped in front of my truck
)

As you can see, there's a lot of bodywork left to do, but it runs, drives and stops. And with the top down, it's an absolute blast.
Thanks again to all, and as I continue to get it back into shape, I'll post pics of the progress.
