Miami/South Beach
I'm heading to Miami with the family this spring, and I'm looking for hotel suggestions. We would like to stay on the beach within walking distance of So Beach and the Art-Deco dist. I know theres some really high end places, but I'm not looking to spend a mortage payment a night. I'll sit back and see what the great travelers Of BN can help me with. TIA

Try this site........i've been to SB a few times....Hotels on or near the water and the Art-Deco area aren't cheap...Try the Tudor, Edison or Clevelander!!

Yep..what Tommy said. I used to go to South Beach at least 3 times a year, but haven't been in the past 2yrs. I love the art-deco area, Ocean Drive..all the cool little places to eat, lots of people watching...and of course partying the night away at Mango'sTommyBahama wrote:http://www.southbeach-usa.com/hotels/so ... hotels.htm

Clevelander is a cool place to have a few. Not sure its the best place to stay with a family. Not much sleeping going on. But Fun never the less.
Use to live there in another life. Not sure where to sleep. Plenty places to have a few........ too many
Found myself on a park bench in Lummus Park a time or two.
Good Luck, Have Fun!

I live down here and it may be just be me, but I'd skip the whole SOBE deal and drive down to the Keys. Even if you don't make it to Key West, which there is no reason not too, it still better than the pretensious(who cares how its spelled) bs that is SOBE. Its overpriced and overrated. Take a canoe trip through the Everglades and then head on south. I think that'd be the best bet.
But if you are dead set on SOBE, then forget this post because it could be a buzz kill.

p.s. i suspect you will be expected to just lay on the beach and pay for the shopping. they may be polite about it, but they're not looking for tagalongs.
I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

You are right. The one good thing about South Beach.
