There is no doubt that Margaritaville tequila SUCKS, but for those who like domestic lagers, Landshark is not bad.RinglingRingling wrote: having tried Corona once, and finding out the critics were right in their assessment of it's "qualities", and having tried Jimmy's effort at "branded tequila", I can let the folks who have sampled both and found the new beer lacking have the benefit of the doubt.

So this is comparable to Yuenglingz-man wrote:There is no doubt that Margaritaville tequila SUCKS, but for those who like domestic lagers, Landshark is not bad.RinglingRingling wrote: having tried Corona once, and finding out the critics were right in their assessment of it's "qualities", and having tried Jimmy's effort at "branded tequila", I can let the folks who have sampled both and found the new beer lacking have the benefit of the doubt.
my not being a fan of lagered beer is also a big part of my position.z-man wrote:There is no doubt that Margaritaville tequila SUCKS, but for those who like domestic lagers, Landshark is not bad.RinglingRingling wrote: having tried Corona once, and finding out the critics were right in their assessment of it's "qualities", and having tried Jimmy's effort at "branded tequila", I can let the folks who have sampled both and found the new beer lacking have the benefit of the doubt.
OH...Yuengling. I like that stuff and it's impossible to get in the Boston area. I asked a bartender at a local place called the Sunset Grill who has over 200 bottled beer and 100 on tap they told me that they have a hard time making enough to fill their orders.thebeachbumm33 wrote:So this is comparable to Yuenglingz-man wrote:There is no doubt that Margaritaville tequila SUCKS, but for those who like domestic lagers, Landshark is not bad.RinglingRingling wrote: having tried Corona once, and finding out the critics were right in their assessment of it's "qualities", and having tried Jimmy's effort at "branded tequila", I can let the folks who have sampled both and found the new beer lacking have the benefit of the doubt.

I don't remember Tecate aggressively doing that in the US...but in Mexico a lime was part of their jingle when I lived there. It was like the Bud song of Mexico and it's still etched in my brain..."Tecate se lleva bien con su sal y su limon." (Tecate tastes great with your salt and lime).ragtopW wrote:Quiet and Shy wrote:

not sure how long Corona has been in the US.
But Tecate did the salt/lime thing too.. and I think before Corona..

In the US today my guess is if you asked consumers "which beer do you picture (associate) with a lime?" The vast majority would say "Corona." Of course there could be regionally targeted marketing that I'm not familiar with, but from what I've seen Corona would be a slam dunk...enough to get a trademark (especially sticking out of a clear beer bottle), if allowable.
Tecate markets this in Dallas especially in the hispanic areas of town.Quiet and Shy wrote:I don't remember Tecate aggressively doing that in the US...but in Mexico a lime was part of their jingle when I lived there. I can't imagine how someone could trademark the lime, even sodas use it.
It's a garnish.
