everyone wants to be the hero...

It was just stupid. Mind you, I am happy he did it, but as a fan of the game, that was just a dumb play. It may not have even been a conscious thought, but rather an instinctual grab and and run. But he should have known better.

Tough call. Could go either way. I'll say NE although I don't like either team.

Simple rule: Never pick against the Pats in the playoffs. If you picked them to win all of their Belichick-coached playoff games, you'd have been wrong only once.

For some reason, I'm gonna go with the Colts.

After last year's quick exit, Dungy seems to have the team well prepared and hitting on all cylinders for this year's playoffs so far. They beat Baltimore at their game, and now it's time for the Patriots.
This city might turn completely blue by the weekend. It's kinda fun!
Go Colts!!!

I picking the Colts because I'm starting to like Peyton (I never could beat the Gators) Manning.
I think Peyton is gonna finally win the big one.
But then again if it comes downs to Peyton vs. Grossman all bets are off

San Diego scored another touchdown making it 21 - 13. The Pats started out and made one or two first downs on the next drive and then were down to 4th and long. Brady threw an interception (this should have been the end of the game, the Chargers would have had great field position and all they would have needed was a field goal to put the game out of reach) but, Troy Brown stripped the ball out of the hands of the Charger and the Pats recovered for a 1st and 10. Pats scored and then made the 2 point conversion to tie the game.
Next series; three and out for the Chargers, then the Pats took it down and kicked a field goal leaving 70 seconds on the clock. The Chargers made some great plays and got the ball to the Pats 35 -36 yard line and broght in their kicker to tie it up and send it into overtime. He kicked it short and wide right.
Good plays and lucky breaks on both sides, but the Pats capitalized on more of them.
I think the Chargers could of ran 1 more play with 8 Seconds left.......a quick out or throw it away if nothing is there!!!

You know what? The time to kick a field goal was in the first quarter, when it was 4th and 11 from the Patriots 30 yard line. That was even closer than the attempt at the end of the game.
Not to mention the fact that Schottenheimer wasted a timeout challenging Troy Brown's strip of Marlon Mcree - when everyone in the stadium and watching on TV could see that there was nothing to challenge on the play.
More than anything, those two plays cost the Chargers the victory - or at least a chance to send the game into overtime.

I agree with the time out.....but i think someone had to tell him ..he thought it wasn't a fumble
it would of been a 47 yarder into the wind,,,,Even Belichick said he might of gone for it in that situation.......I think what they did wrong was getting away from the run in the 2nd half......i think he carried only 6-8 times in the 2nd half...and thrown to twice

Well Indy is limiting ticket availability to only those fans who have a credit card billing address in and around Indianna. San diego did the same thing. Let's hope that the effect on the end result of the game is the same.
Go Pats!

I don't see how that is possible since the Colts stated there were less then 1000 tickets available and those went on sale yesterday.

They made so you had to either go to the Dome or Ticketmaster location to help keep tickets out of scalpers hands (scalping is legal in Indiana). Anyone could buy tickets aslong as you showed up in person.

Except that the offical secondary market for the Colts is StubHub. Not exactly a non-scalping venue. In fact if you go to StubHub right now there are tickets there for thousands of dollars. So how is walking up in person preventing scalping?
No, they are just trying to stack the stadium with Blue and White. And part of me can't blame them. I just hope that the Pats remember this when Indy and San Diego come to town next time.

That approach is typically taken by every home team; it's nothing unique to Indy. It's too bad so few tickets were available though (it's the NFL's smallest stadium)...the tickets were gone in a flash. For example, out of 1500 lined up at the dome box office, only a dozen got tickets. With odds like that you can't blame a team for focusing on local fans...and face it, the Colts earned the home field.
We all know the scalping would happen no matter where and when (but since it's legal here it's less risky for the seller)...just like with a Buffett show.
Oh yeah, and on StubHub, that's a sponsorship just like any other...the Colts aren't selling tickets through them.

I can't speak to whether every home team does it or not. It happened to the Patriots last week, this week and is also happening to the Saints. I have not heard complaints about any other teams doing this.
As I said, part of me can't blame them for doing it. That is benefit of home field advantage. I just want the Pats to be as anal about their home field advantage the next time Indy or the Chargers come to Foxboro.
My whole point about Stubhub was to counter the "they're doing it to prevent scalping" statement.
