You know what? The time to kick a field goal was in the first quarter, when it was 4th and 11 from the Patriots 30 yard line. That was even closer than the attempt at the end of the game.

Not to mention the fact that Schottenheimer wasted a timeout challenging Troy Brown's strip of Marlon Mcree - when everyone in the stadium and watching on TV could see that there was nothing to challenge on the play.

More than anything, those two plays cost the Chargers the victory - or at least a chance to send the game into overtime.
Don't forget Marty also wasted a timeout right after an injury timeout. On that last drive the Chargers should have had at least 2 timeouts. That would have given them more time to possibly get better field position for that FG attempt. If they had managed the clock beter they also would have gotten the ball back with much more then 1:10 left, probably closer to 1:50.

this is one of those... "scoreless tie with lotso career-ending injuries" kinda games... The last two men standing: the towel boy from NE, and an assistant offensive coordinator for the Colts..

they are then handed paintball guns and duel at mid-field.

Gotta go Colts...

Not that I care, but Colts v. Saints would give the best Super Bowl.

Except that the offical secondary market for the Colts is StubHub. Not exactly a non-scalping venue. In fact if you go to StubHub right now there are tickets there for thousands of dollars. So how is walking up in person preventing scalping?

No, they are just trying to stack the stadium with Blue and White. And part of me can't blame them. I just hope that the Pats remember this when Indy and San Diego come to town next time.
That approach is typically taken by every home team; it's nothing unique to Indy. It's too bad so few tickets were available though (it's the NFL's smallest stadium)...the tickets were gone in a flash. For example, out of 1500 lined up at the dome box office, only a dozen got tickets. With odds like that you can't blame a team for focusing on local fans...and face it, the Colts earned the home field.

We all know the scalping would happen no matter where and when (but since it's legal here it's less risky for the seller)...just like with a Buffett show.

Oh yeah, and on StubHub, that's a sponsorship just like any other...the Colts aren't selling tickets through them. :-?
Are you going to the game?
Nope. I'll watch it with some friends...but what a game it should be! :o :o :D

I was hoping a Chargers-Saints Superbowl. Now, half the magic is gone.

Agreed. Brady - Manning, Belichik - Dungy, Grostkowski - Vinatieri
Too much history between these two teams. It just seems right that the Superbowl contender from the AFC had to either be one of these teams or go through both of them.

One of two things will happen in this game:
1)The Patriots will beat the Colts
OR
2)The Colts will beat themselves.

I hope not either, Alison, but apparently I seem to jinx whatever team I cheer for in the playoffs.

I'd have an easier time lying to my wife than putting on a false front such as that.
But it IS in Indianapolis, so there's hope.

Peyton Manning in Heaven

Peyton Manning, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house
with a faded Colts flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Peyton," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Peyton felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house.

On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a Silver and blue sidewalk, a 50-foot tall
flagpole with an enormous Patriots logo flag, and in every window, a New England Patriots towel. Peyton looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I hold many NFL records, and I even went to the Hall of Fame."

God said "So what's your point Peyton?" "Well, why does Tom Brady get a better house than me?" God chuckled, and said: "Peyton, that's not Tom's house, it's mine."

GO PATRIOTS!!!

I'm really pulling for the Colts as I always liked Peyton going back to Tennesse, I respect the way Marvin Harrison carries himself and want Tony Dungy to make a Super Bowl.

Yeah, there are some pretty classy folks that are part of the Colts organization; they're not perfect but it's easy to respect and like the team.

I liked and respected Peyton Manning until this week, when he injected himself into the idiotic "Don't sell tickets to Patriots fans." That's just juvenile (and yes, I'd think it was just as juvenile if the situation were reversed, the game was in Mass, and the Pats were trying to keep out Colts fans).

Play football, Peyton, and stop this assinine ticket crap.....
