Yeah, there are some pretty classy folks that are part of the Colts organization; they're not perfect but it's easy to respect and like the team.
I liked and respected Peyton Manning until this week, when he injected himself into the idiotic "Don't sell tickets to Patriots fans." That's just juvenile (and yes, I'd think it was just as juvenile if the situation were reversed, the game was in Mass, and the Pats were trying to keep out Colts fans).
Play football, Peyton, and stop this assinine ticket crap.....
just another example of his approach. Remember how he and his father strong-armed the Chargers and the NFL?

No, I don't remember, because I don't really follow football, but I guess it doesn't surprise me....

Hey, folks here are excited the Colts are hosting their first ever championship game and want Colts fans to be there for the home game. Most other teams do the same thing; the game's in Indy this time. If that's what you want it to be about, so-be-it.

If I remember the story correctly, Eli Manning got drafted by the Chargers. Archie and Peyton went to the league and made it clear that either Eli went somewhere else, or he would have their full support in sitting out the year necessary to void the draft and become a free agent. Something about Archie having spent years playing for mediocre to crappy teams, and they didn't want Eli going to a mediocre or crappy team like San Diego.
End result, Eli Manning ends up with the Giants.

That was ultimately Eli's choice...and an interesting one given where the two teams are today. I think San Diego would have been a better fit for Eli's more laid back personality (vs. the intense NY media). Eli's not by any means the first to have played that game...and, there's not likely to be a huge difference in the quality of the first vs. second drafting team anyway (Indy was a lousy team when Peyton came here). To me, refusing to go to certain places is not realizing what being a professional is about...and anything/any place is what you make of it.

perhaps not, but he is the first one to use the legacy angle. and it was unprofessional for Peyton to step into the matter as well.

My vote has nothing to do with knowing about football. It's just from an Indy native who would really like to see the good guys in the Colts organization win their way in to the Super Bowl this year!
GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of what you said is correct except that The Mannings didn't involve the league. They informed the Charger organization that they did not wish for Eli to be a Charger. The Chargers then leaked that to the press. It was a private request by the Mannings and was not made to the league nor was it said to the press. I am not defending what they did as I don't agree with doing it and hey to be honest I'd rather have Rivers and Shawne Merriman ( the Chargers took him with one of the Giants Draft picks). Just saying what reportedly happened. I think it worked out for the Chargers so I don't think they are upset about it or atleast I don't know why they would be. Also for everyone who wants to kill the Mannings, there was a QB out of Stanford who a similar thing back in the early 80's and forced his way to Denver from the Colts. No one mentions that about Elway anymore so Eli can erase all that negative stuff from people's minds with his play on the field.

An old girlfriend of mine who lives out in San Diego was at the Pats / Chargers came last week with extremely good seats. She (like most women in this country) is in love Tom Brady. She managed to snap a really good picture, so I figured I'd share for all you love struck ladies out there...

My mistake, it has been a while and the details were a little fuzzy with time. I am not a big fan of either the Mannings or Elway's pressuring a team that way. I am very sorry that Archie played on mediocre to horrible teams, and I can understand why he might not want his son to go thru that too. However, the purpose of the draft is achieve parity between teams and keep the product (NFL football) selling, and thus making everyone ridiculous amounts of money.
While it may sound cold, I like to think of it as karma for all involved. The Chargers got a great deal, although isn't Merriman the guy with the steroid issue? And it is not bad to see the Giants mired toward the bottom.

Adam Vinatieri kicks a game winning field goal? That would be some great irony.

Yeah Merriman is the guy who was suspended. I wouldn't say the Giants are mired towards the bottom as they were 1 of only 12 teams to make the playoffs and lsot a close playoff game. Tiki retiring doesn't help but we'll see. The beauty of the NFL is there always seems to be a bunch of teams that surpise and disapoint. That goes with the parity you mentioned! Anyway, enjoy the games today!

PREDICTION!!!
There will be at least one very contraversial call by the officials that will have a direct impact on the outcome of the game.

It's sooo obvious ....
“ When they did that, they really want Peyton Manning and these guys to win the Super Bowl. They are just going to straight take it for them. I felt that they were like 'We don't even care if you know we're cheating. We're cheating for them.' ”
— Joey Porter, in The New York Times, after Troy Polamalu's interception was reversed.
