Ideas for an 8 y/o's Birthday Party?

My son is about to turn 8 and I'm all out of ideas for birthday parties.

His birthday is next Monday, so I need to pull something together in a hurry for this weekend. Image

It's ok, because we will only be including a couple of his best friends.

I'm tired of parties at the pizza & games (i.e., Chuck E Cheese) type places and it's too cold for a swim party.

Since we're only having a couple of friends, we don't want to go to the expense of renting an indoor pool facility.
(besides, were going to be in Mexico in two weeks and he'll be able to swim to his heart's content)

Any suggestions?

Kids that age love bowling. Find an alley that has bumper bowling and rent a lane or two for a couple of hours. You can also get a beer from the bar while you endure this. :D

What about laser tag? Less dangersous then paint ball but they still get to run around an shoot lasers at each other?

I'm guessing 8 is a little too young for an outing at the nudie bar.

Have it on a Tuesday, that's grade school night.

Do you have any indoor-bounce type places? We have some here in Denver called Pump It Up.

Bowling is always an easy, good, last-minute idea.

Maybe a roller-rink! :D

My son turns 3 in a few weeks and I'm having a dilemma finding something cool for him. We don't have enough room in our house for the party but it's too cold to be outside. :-?

Hope he has a happy birthday!

Have a pirate party....if there's a party supply place close, you can buy pirate things, eye patches, plastic hooks....have a treasure hunt.....then watch Dead Men's Chest or something....
bring back a saucy wench from the strip club....it would be fun!

Have a limo pick everyone up at your house and go bowling. Both my kids (almost 8 and almost 12) like bowling and the limo thing is for fun for them. They feel like the rich & famous.

That is an awesome idea. :D Then mom can get lit at the bowling alley and not have to drive home.

well....I don't know if that's a great idea. The newly turned 8 year old may never want to see their friends again after that.

Since he is only having a few friends at the party.....how about going to one of those go-kart fun park thingy's.....if you have one around where you live.

My nephew just turned 10 and he had his party there and loved it.

ARRRRRR give the little rotter a PIRATE PARRRRTY :pirate: :wench: :wench: :pirate: :wench:

Seriously, get some face black, some eye patches, some bandanas and a Pirate Captains hat for the birthday boy, along with a toy parrot (not much of a stretch there for us PHs). Add in a few toy weapons if you want. Have a Jolly Roger cake, a treasure huint and spend a lot of time perfecting their ARRRRRRR's. Tell some RRRRR jokes and well you get the picture. I did that about 10 years ago for my now 18 year old son, and they had a blast
