Anyone ever see BB King in concert? He never plays and sings at the same time.

It's tough to do! There are some conga rhythms that I just can play while I'm singing   Someday I will!

Hell, he never touches this strings. I think he just carries the guitar so he has a place to rest his arms.

I think we've confirmed in the past that Tina's guitar does indeed have strings, right?

She's playing her guitar, but there's no pickup plugged in as far as I could tell...

Well last year it looked like Skynard up there with all the guitars. There was Jimmy, Mac, Pete, Doyle and Sonny. I think he is playing, just not lead and not very loud. When he does solo encores or songs with Mac, you can definately tell he is playing.

...at our annual Thoroughbreds and Rednecks weekend. This year we have a lot of fun planned, starting with a day at the arms races, followed by a party in downtown Richmond, with a relaxing day at the distillery to complete the weekend warrior.

Caribbean Soul Man wrote:quite the contrary, I've noticed how much he DOES actually play. If you pay attention to arrangements such as Peanut Butter Conspiracy this last tour, he was playing quite a bit w/ the "Beach Band." And I believe he was by himself playing Nautical Wheelers for his final encore in Charlotte. And I think he was "lip SINGING" the entire show
yeah i remember that encore of nautical wheelers. it was great.

You can certainly hear JB's guitar playing on all of the live albums. Hell, I hear him on every song he plays guitar on! Even at Jazz Fest when he played Biloxi a few years ago, all by hisself, I could hear his guitar.

I've always heard JB's guitar. It is usually mixed rather low because it's more of a rhythm 'support the song keep it going' type playing style he has. He's no virtuoso like that Eddie guy who can't keep a lead singer in his 'band' but he's no bellhop either.

which goes a long way toward explaining why it has taken so long for her to get her "album" recorded... :D

Paul McCartney used a teleprompter the last time I saw him. We had seats behind the stage and could see it.

Their all growing older not up.
He could still put his (Beatle) boots under my bed anytime!

If we're lucky, Ashley Simpson will never do anything BUT lip-synch. I've heard a clip of her without all the production value added (Jim Rome show?) and it's not pretty.

Who the hell is Ashlee (Ashley?) Simpson?

The thing that struck us the most about JB, the first time we saw him in concert, was that he walked out barefoot alone, with an acoustic (12 string?) and played and sang solo with NO band. We said, heck he really CAN play! It was a revelation. (We had been fans for many years, but never went to a live concert until we came back from living down island to the US.) This was at Chula Vista in the freezing cold fall of 2004. So we think he does play, but with a band that size, it is hard to tell. If you sat close enough you might be able to, but we never do.

Think you can pick out individual performers if you know what you are listening for. Our daughter sang in numerous audition type classical choirs through school and college and I could always hear her particular alto voice at the concerts and even on their recordings of the concerts.

Anyway, could you write those songs?

Jimmy absolutely plays. Tina can play and to my knowledge does play on the stuff she is holding a guitar on. And why are so many people enamored with the fact that some singers use a teleprompter? This is nothing new and since the beginning of performing people have used notes and crib sheets for stuff. No big deal.

I figure until I can get up in front of 20,000+ and remember all the words to 26 or 27 songs, I have no place commenting on Jimmy's use of a teleprompter..... :D
