Postsecret.com, part deux
About a year ago I think, tikitatas (beautiful Cate) posted a link to now what is one of my favorite Web sites: http://www.postsecret.com.
I quickly became addicted to the site and the notion of people sharing their secrets and religiously check every Sunday to see the new ones. I had the pleasure last night to meet the man behind the secrets, Frank Warren, buy his new book (filled with postcard secrets, of course) and listen to him talk about the inception of Postsecret as a grass-roots community art project and it's connection to the national suicide prevention hotline.
First, I absolutely have to say what an exemplary speaker he is. Although he has delivered that presentation many times before, he didn't even stutter to think out loud once. His speech was not riddled with "umms" and "uhhhs" between phrases. He just spoke from the heart, with firm but quiet passion about his project. I truly envy the job he has. How lucky he is to wake up and get to do what he does.
Plus, the event took place at a bookstore called the Tattered Cover which is a small local-owned chain (by chain I mean 3 stores) which is the local favorite over the other big-box-bookstores.
So, if you have the chance to see Frank Warren DEFINITELY do it, and by all means pick up any of his 3 books. They are intriguing, insightful, inspirational, and you will run the gamut of emotions in just a few short pages.

Oh, a few other things that I forgot to add.
First, his Web site is hosted by blogspot, and he pays nothing to post the secrets every week. Also, he has been able to continue the project without having to sell advertisements on his Web site. Much of the proceeds from book sales and exhibition events go directly back to Hopeline.
Anyway, here is one secret posted on the current site that really hits home with me.
