Just wondering if anybody has any infromation regarding why Jimmy has, more or less, retired Havana Daydreamin'?
I realize that there are numerous songs that Jimmy hasn't played in years but it seems as if Havana Daydreamin' has been cut off. He hasn't played it at a large venue in a very long time. I believe it was 1999 when Jimmy played it last in Massachuseetts in Boston.
It is such a great song. Hope to experience it live sometime soon.

Looks like he's played it..
01-28-2005: Margaritaville Cafe - Key West, FL
11-04-2004: Margaritaville Street Festival - Key West, FL
11-02-2002: Nikki's Beach Club - Miami, FL
11-01-2002: Margaritaville Street Festival - Key West, FL
02-23-2002: Margaritaville Cafe - Ocho Rios, JAM
Obviously small locals..But I think it is one of those songs that just works best in an intimate setting.

I agree . . . it would be great in a small bar somewhere. Thanks!

Mindy is right. He plays it when he does M-Ville, or other small venues.
Last time he did it on the main tour was in 1998.

There's an error in the song database. The 11-4-04 show in Key West wasn't the Street Festival, it was the night JB crashed the Peter Mayer show at the Casa Marina. The Street Festival is Friday afternoon, not Thursday night.

I've found other errors, too...but it's close enough for this type of research. Report in to Jim!

Actually, no.
The Havana Daydreamin' tour was 1997.
1998 was Don't Stop The Carnival.

OK, upon further review...you are right. The HD tour lasted until February 1998. DSTC started in June.

I remember when he opened with HD on the Somwhere Over China tour and it was jawdropping, just fantastic. That was 1982? Haven't heard it live since. Well, I haven't seen him much since the Rece$$ion Rece$$ Tour, the last tour I saw JB on a regular basis going back to and spanning from 1980 or 81, Coconut tour. The exceptions have been 2 times at NOLA Marg (1995 and 96) and two times at Jazz Fest (1998 - he opened with Saxophones and it was KILLER - Irma Thomas performed before JB so it was fitting - he didn't play anything from DSTC which had just come out; and 2002? - he opened with Margaritaville and also played EGACIMiami and closed with Biloxi solo) and the BHOTM winter tour at the NO Arena in 1999.
So yes, Havana Daydreamin' needs to be played again. It's classic Buffett.

Pencil Thin Mustache
Where's The Party
Smart Woman
Havana Daydreamin'
That's What Living Is To Me
Jolly Mon
Son Of A Son Of A Sailor

Cuban Crime Of Passion
Manana
When Salome Plays The Drum
Twelve Volt Man (another one of my favs!)
Blue Telescope
All The Ways I Want You
Rocky Raccoon
Nautical Wheelers

Wow, with exception - great exception - to a couple of regular songs, that's a set list that JB could really stand to go by THIS year. With a few other tunes of course, the good ones from TTWWY and recent LPs.

It's also on
Songs You Know By Heart. Isn't that the album everyone's supposed to hate, especially if they're a "true Parrothead"?

Havana Daydreamin' is not on SYKBH. It is on Disc 2 of MMIM. It probably should have been on SYKBH, along with Coconut Telegraph.

HD is one of my favorite songs - I listed at #3 all time on that thread with the top 10 survey. "You Had to Be There" has a great live version - In my opinion, its the best of all the live albums.
