Jazz Fest 2007

On Savannah Buffett's show on Sirius this week she mentioned Jimmy would be performing at Jazz Fest on April 28. The list of entertainers for both weekends will be posted soon at www.nojazzfest.com. (thanks to NanaBabe for passing that along)

JB doesn't play every Jazz Fest. I won't be able to see him anyway. I'll be playing Jazz Fest on the 27th but then have to go to either Mobile or Pensacola to open up for some big band on tour. In fact, I've missed most acts I've wanted to see in New Orleans because of being somewhere else on the road.

Questions for those who have attended Jazz Fest.

1) Can you get anywhere near the stages without having to camp out for hours ahead?
2) Is the sound worth a damn?
3) Are most people courteous or do you have lots of a**holes in attendence?
4) I'm interested in some of the Zydeco & Blues bands who aren't big names, please apply questions 1 & 2 to those kind of performances.

Dr. Corona I do not know the answers to those questions, but I am from Michigan and I am really considering heading down for the first weekend.

Jimmy's name is not on the list but Quint Davis the festival head honcho said that their is one more big name addition to the lineup so let's assume it's Jimmy.

I can't wait to go, hopefully the financial gods do me well in the next month and half. Buffett in Vegas in October and watching Notre Dame get their ass whooped in the Sugar Bowl really drained me.

1. Yes, I went last year and we were a few rows back from front of stage. You do need to get in the "line " at the entrance to the fairgrounds parking area an hour or so before it opens but you can set up outside your car and meet other fans.

2. Sound was not bad considering it's an outdoor venue.

3. We had a problem with some kids who had no idea (past Margaritaville )who Jimmy was and trying to move up front. All in all, great people and lots of fun.

4. I am an avid Zydeco fan. Unfortunately if you are sitting at the Acura stage waiting for JB all day you don't get to do much else and that is a shame. If you have someone with you, however, you can take turns manning the chairs and still see other acts.

Do go and have a wonderful time. It is well worth it.

Wannabe is right on the money. The main stages with the big acts will get crowded early, but you can still work your way up in the crowd. Typically the crowd is a friendly bunch. There is great Zydeco and Blues played at the smaller stages.

I highly recommend JazzFest to anyone who has never been. If you do come, take some time to see the City (not just JazzFest and the French Quarter). There are lots of good things going on with rebuilding, but there is a long way to go!

Like they said except, when Jimmy came out it was WAY crowded. So how many times have you seen Jimmy eh? Do you need to be up close and blow your whole day holding a spot? We sat 1/2 way back on the side, great view of the big screen and it was fine. I would have been bummed if I missed all the other great acts by just sitting in front of one stage all the time.
AND.....at night around town...wow, tons of great acts to see!!
I wish I could go again this year...

JUst looked over the list, both weekends sound great!! It would be hard to pick but I think maybe the first one has more people I like.

It's worth it to go just for the food! We're about 90% sure we're going again this year, but we do actually want to go with a group and take chairs this time just so we have a home base.

I was hoping for a regular concert, but I think I might be doing this. I have checked air and hotel, and the rates are good. If all goes well, I'll be there!

What I've found, based on tour history of major acts, is the usual set list of that tour. It's the smaller acts who really work their set list for Jazz Fest.

Buffett or not, GO TO JAZZ FEST. You will be pleased, entertained and informed and possibly even gain some knowledge if you go with an open mind. There is so much, tons, boatloads of great music at Jazz Fest no matter where you go, especially if you avoid the 'main' or 'headlining' acts. No matter the crowd, if you'd rather hear music than drink Miller Lite, you'll be fine if you work your way to near the stage. Just be kind and curtious to those around you. Everyone's there for a good time.

I've seen JB from near, far, the side and on the track and have never been disappointed with the sound. I've seen Dylan from the side and it sounded great. I've seen Lenny Kravitz from the track and the back, as well as Frogman Henry and dozens of others. Unless you can hear the other stages, it sounds good or great and depending on where you are, loud enough.

GO TO JAZZ FEST. And there's more going on at night than the Fairgrounds.

She didn't say HOW or WHERE he'd be performing did she? There are a couple of artists on the list I could see JB sitting in with. My guess is he'll be in town to ahgn out and about and play one night at Margaritaville but not be a headlining act at JF because all of the headliners have been set up already. And he played last year anyway.

At least, from the looks of things, JB will not be playing JF this year. I'm not saying I'm right either so stuff it if I am wrong. He's always in the first sentence of who's playing JF when it comes to these first calls on who's playing.

I do know the band I'm in is playing JF.

What band are you in Just Ducky. Hopefully I will be able to see you. And like I said before, Quint said that there is still more to be announced, and one big time headlining act. A lot of people are hoping for widespread panic, but I would bet on Jimmy. He has really seemed to adopt NOLA more since Katrina than he ever has before. (Saints Game, Jazz Fest Last Year) Who knows it could be U2, like was rumored last year

I dont think Jimmy's going to be playing, he's a major act and would have been on the list. Maybe that was a replay of Savannah's show from last year.
