has anybody heard of this tour group?

Post by MacPhin »

EF College Break is a travel group i found on the internet. my 19 y.o. niece wants to go to greece this summer for about 2 weeks. she can't get anyone to go with her so she's a bit bummed. i did a quick search and found this company that is geared towards 18-30 y.o.'s

has anyone had any experience with them??? or can they suggest something? she doesn't want to do a strict tour thing. she'd like time to do her own thing. i told my sister to look into the local colleges. unfortunately she's too busy right at the moment with my b-i-l's prostate cancer surgery & recovery.

i know we have a member who is a travel agent. i thought i'd pick her brain but i can't recall who she is. ???????

I can't find them listed in the BBB of Cambridge MA. where they have their offices. That means that no complaints have been filed against them under the name EF College Breaks but that doesn't make them legit. You may want to contact the AG office in MA to see if they have any complaints about the company. Also see if MA requires companies selling travel to register with the state, I know CA does and the company has to list the number on their website.

I wouldn't spend any money without knowing a lot more about them.

You might consider Contiki Tours, they cater to 18 to 30 yr old groups and they are legit.

Haven't heard of them, I went with AESU back in the early 90's. They're based in Baltimore. My bro took a couple of trips with another well known college tour group but for the life of me I can't remember the name. I think they may be based in Australia tho, I know one of his trips went there.

Most of these are going to be pretty structured, I think that's the point (parents are more inclined to pay for something that way, I think). I went for 3 weeks, plus piggybacked some extra time before and after the tour. Most of our stuff was planned but we did have a few days off to explore on our own, not many tho.

As for travel agents, Jeepgirl (Nikki) and NJPhinPhan (Anna Lynn) are both travel agents and GREAT resources. :D

thanks both of you for that info.

i did call the office of the group today and got some info. will call the ag office to see if there any complaints. their site says they have been around for 40years... part of another group based, i think, in sweden.

Look for a company called "Global Works." They are oriented to student educational/social service travel. A neice has led many trips to parts of the spanish speaking world, they may have a group going to Greece.

That is the tour group my school uses for trips to France, Spain, etc. I haven't gone on one of their tours yet. I do know that they are the most reasonable for students. The only negative I know of is they move you around a lot. Friends who went to France said one night they'd have a great hotel in a convenient spot, the next night, they'd be in the middle of nowhere w/o good means of transportation. I guess you get what you pay for :-?

Intrepid Travel http://www.intrepidtravel.com/ is a well-established company, originating in Australia. We are going with them to Tanzania (this week!) and Neil (No Parrot) took a trip in India last year. They seem reliable and good value.

Hey, just to add on to the reviews here. i've traveled with EFCB three times in different areas of the world and each trip was great. I went on Spanish Fiesta, Exotic, Thailand, and the Greek Isles. There are 20-35 college students on each trip and it is fun getting to hang out with them as well as seeing some of the best destinations in the world.

I'm a travel agent also, and I have not heard of them.
I would recommend Contiki. Let me know if she needs
some help!!

I have had many people go out on Contiki tours, and I have
had nothing but great feedback every single time!!

My work e mail address is lpiazza_travelusa@verizon.net
if she needs it!!

Ummmm, not to be Buzz Killington or anything, but this thread was started in January of 2007. I'm thinking her niece already went on her trip. [smilie=sillyjester.gif] [smilie=sillyjester.gif] [smilie=sillyjester.gif] [smilie=sillyjester.gif]
