Tailgating Forbidden On Super Bowl Sunday
(CBS4) MIAMI Die-hard football fans attending the Super Bowl game at Dolphin Stadium are getting a rude awakening after finding out that no tailgating of any type will be allowed within a one mile radius on game day.

"There is no tailgating allowed in the Dolphin Stadium parking lots," Sue Jaquez, a member of the Super Bowl XLI Host Committee, confirmed on Tuesday. "And there is no tailgating anywhere within a one-mile radius of the stadium." "And there are no RVs allowed."

And the NFL has said no to a Super Bowl party at Soldier Field (it would also possibly have been used as a fundraiser) because it might take away from the TV audience, and apparently the only thing that matters is ratings.

Yep...some habitual tailgaters from Indy aren't too happy with those rules, either. I guess they want the concessions $$s. Or they're afraid someone might have some fun....  :-?

The Super Bowl is not about football OR fans, it's about money. TV time during the superbowl is the highest $ it is all year cause it's watched by probably 1 billion people this year.

THAT is all the NFL cares about, not you and your hot dogs and beer in a parking lot.

Real fans cant even go because most of the tickets are bought up by corporations. Go to a NFC or AFC championship game instead. More fans and less crappy hype.

I even like BOTH teams this year and I wouldnt go if you gave me tickets.

Real fans don't go to the Super Bowl. Unless their team is playing, and even then, I'd question it.

It's not about football. Real fans would be at a Super Bowl party....watching for the game, not the "entertainment".

Am I the only one that is surprised that there is parking available within a 1 mile radius of the stadium? Aren't the main lots full of media trucks and NFL experience tents?

I actually have some good friends who won the ticket lottery and will be going. They're incredibly excited. Apparently the Colts got 13,500 tickets for all players, staff, dignitaries, fans, etc. So, of 56,000 season ticket holders about 8,000 got a chance to buy Super Bowl tickets.

What's up with the no cell phones, no fly zone for something like 35 miles, fighter jets on stand-by, no tailgating near the stadium?

Sounds to me like some serious threats have been made!

:o YIKES :o

But seriously, how in the world can they enforce the no-tailgating in a ONE-MILE radius? They can't tell another business or a private homeowner what they can do on their own property. Unless the NFL owns all the land in a one mile radius. What if some homeowner or a business wants to have a party, with food and drink on their OWN property?

Its that thing that comes on when you go to take a bathroom break or get more food. No, not the one with the singing and a hundred clueless people dancing. That is something totally different.
