I have this CD, and love it...On her site, she talks about some of the songs and why she wrote them..
First appears on Greatest Hits Road Less Traveled (2005)
Written by Melissa Etheridge
"Ford asked me to write a song for their "Race for the Cure" initiative to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer charities. I wanted to write a song that was personal; climb into people's emotions and portray a woman who has had breast cancer but is out of it. The first verse is about a survivor. The second verse is from my own experience and the last verse is for those who have not been diagnosed or don't know anyone with breast cancer yet. We are all running for answers and to make the situation better."

AWWW! thanks...they play at that at all of our pasta and victory parties...can't get through it without crying! While it really was written about breast cancer...it fits all life threatening diseases.phjrsaunt wrote:No, you're not the only one. And my dialy-up connecton can't quite handle it. Guess I'll have to wait and hear it on the radio. Just looking at the title, though, makes me think of Kitty.
If it is the song I am thinking of (I am at work, and can't really check it out) I first heard Melissa Etheridge perform it on her first tv appearances after her own battle with breast cancer--extremely powerful!

I think it was in October, 2005 I was walking to work one morning and there was a big stage outside Good Morning America's studio at the intersection of 44th St. and 7th Ave. I didn't know who was on so after I got to my office and checked my email to make sure nothing important was going on I went back to 44th St. and walked about halfway down the block, as far as I could get because of the crowd. Melissa Etheridge was the guest and she did this song.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here
