DR....if you do Jamaica, stay away from the Sandals Grande in Ocho Rios! Just got back last month and even though it was a free trip, I would never go back.

JAMAICA JAMAICA JAMAICA
We were never interested in going there until Hurricane Jeanne changed our cruise itinerary for us. We are returning this year in May for a week and are going to the 3 Margaritavilles (Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril). The water is amazing! The sunsets are so memorable!

I believe we are going to Rick's for a sunset and I want to try jumping off the middle cliff. I did the short one last time we were in Negril in 2001. After about 45 minutes of getting up the nerve, I found that it was actually really fun.

We have a trip planned to go to the YS Falls, Dolphin watching, to an orphange to donate some toys and school supplies that we are brining from home and then to the Pelican Bar for some dinner and drinks.

I so need this vacation...I can't wait to lie on the beach, feel the warm sun burn my skin (I'm 100% Irish) and drink a bunch of Hummingbirds...

22 more days!!!!

My husband frequents a site - www.Tripadvisor.com On there he heard about Talk of the Town Tours - here's the website http://www.talkofthetownnegril.com/ We are going on the trip thru them and they have also planned the orphanage trip. They support a "school" called the Little London School and will arrange for you to donate anything you want to.

Another way you can donate to the kids of Negril, if you are not leaving your resort is stop an employee at your hotel and ask if they have kids. If they do, ask them if they would take the goodies you brought with you to the kids school. They will be thrilled to help.

The cliffs at Ricks are - if my memory serves me - 8, 15 and 22 feet. The water is so crystal clear it looks liek they are all 45-50 feet tall because you have no perspective of where the water starts.

The sunsets are the most wonderful moment. I always feel like the little girl on the old lifesavers commercial.."Do it again, Daddy..." when I watch them.

I have Never been to Jamaica But have been to Punta Cana DR. Its a great place if you want to stay just in the resort. Some people from our resort went out for a night and got mugged by the Taxi Guy. Also If you plan on doing late night swimming in the ocean, Make sure everything you have with you is right by the water, or your values will go missing (I found that out the hard way).

Hi again, 26 days here. I think we will also check out YS falls instead of Dunns. I am going to check out that site and thank you so much for the idea. I have heard about the sunsets in Negril and I can not wait!!! We are thinking of renting a car 2 days in Jamaica so we can explore more without having to wait for the rest of a group but I haven't seen many people post about it. Do you or your hubby have any thoughts on this (or anyone else reading this post)?

The general idea in Jamaica is not to rent a car. For one main reason. Have you ever heard of the game of Chicken? Well, they play it with their cars. They drive Very Fast on Very Narrow roads and who ever chickens out first, has to wait for the on coming traffic to pass. The suggested thing to do is hire a driver like TOTTT to get you where you are going.

Log onto Tripadvisor and do a search for tour operators or just post a question to JamaicaSteve - he's the expert...I have his personal e-mail if you want to e-mail him a question directly. PM me and I'll send it right over...

Egads, xnay the rental car thing. We are flying into Montego Bay and are not familiar with the transportation to/from Negril and back. We wanted to stay 2 nights in Negril but don't want to take a chance at not making our plane. Yes, I would love the email!

Did I mention that I'm 100% Irish?

I'll do my best to leave you some rum.

On second thought, you may want to call ahead and have them hide a bottle especially for you.

8 more sleeps for me!!!
