Help converting M4P file to MP3 or WMA...

Ok. So hubby is in charge of the music for our daughter's school talent show on Friday. We have all the music burned to an MP3 player except one. The CD we got from the kid was corrupted and we couldn't figure out why. Well, they downloaded the karaoke version of the song (from iTunes I suspect). The file itself is in M4P format which I've learned is encoded/encrypted so that the file isn't shared. We don't want to share it, we just want it on our device so this young lady can sing for the talent show.
I've been trying some demo software called Tunebit but I'm running into some problems (i.e. it's not effin' working) so I'm hoping the collective knowledge of BN might know something.
Thanks! *smoochies and humpies*

Yikes. As I'm reading more, I might not be able to do this since I wasn't the original owner of the song.

What a pain this is.
I guess I'll try to figure out how to download a new version from somewhere, but with so many karaoke versions out there, I'm sure I'll d/l the wrong one and then this poor girl will be sunk.

This gal's big sister is in the same grade as my Victoria and they have been friends since Kindgergarten.

Ok. I've decided it's way more trouble than it's worth. I've d/l a karaoke version of the song from Walmart.com and if the girl has any real talent it won't be much of a stretch if this version varies from her original.

Hey Mal!!
I know I've been a stranger.......and I'm not gonna be of mucho helpo, but I thought I'd share that I've had a problemo with the MP4's also.....cannot record them. As for file-sharing, that's a crock because that is how I learned there was such thing as an MP4..........I just have not been able to record them...............
Take care!!!

If it is in MP4 format and you have itunes on the computer. Play the disc in itunes and record it via total recorder by high criteria. The cut it up using cd wave. If you do not have them google it and you should find them. This has happend to me before and while it takes a little time it sure beats buying the disc again.

Jason, how do you configure Total Recorder to record while iTunes is playing?
For some reason my settings only let me record while WMP is playing, so I always have to burn a CD with iTunes and then play that CD with WMA and then use Total Recorder.
Settings?? Someone once told me to set TR to record what I hear, but I can't find that setting. Using 6.0 Professional Edition.
Must just be my finicky puter. Or should that be finnicky. Or PHinicky?

I am at work but I will see if I remember.
I think I have the audio in total recorder set to my
soundblaster instead of the total recorder sound card. It then will recognize any sound going through the sound card.
I will check when I get home and reupdate.

This is all very interesting.

What a pain for iTunes users.

In the reading I did last night, I guess iTunes discloses somewhere in the download process that certain files may only play on the computer where they are downloaded and on an iPod, which seems like a crock to me because if I pay for a song, I want to take it anywhere with me, but oh well. Even trying to burn the MP4 file to a CD didn't work. It was just all jumbled and stuff.
I actually spent .95 and just bought the track we needed off Walmart.com.

Much better than trying to read and follow complicated directions.
