I'd bet most in Germany have never heard of the guy or his music...so first it's about giving them exposure to JB's music for them to decide whether or not they like it. As many of the lyrics contain subtleties, his stuff is probably a bit tougher for someone to really "get it" in a second language.

So helping people along is a great idea...e.g. the Buffett-themed party with people dressing up and playing the music is great, and including some games (e.g. pin-the-fin-on-the-shark) to help folks understand some of the songs would help, too.
