Wow, do keep me posted! I'm quite intrigued now. :o

Whenever these computer related problems show up here on the board, I'll try to offer some sort of help, but I don't think I've ever been able to offer a precise way to fix it. I guess nothing has changed.

I really do feel like buying an ipod now and simulating your situation. Just to see if I can resolve it.

I just can't believe that you would have to spend 10 dollars to have a program to transfer YOUR music from your ipod to your computer. I guess I just don't know how they work, and I'm PWI right now, so I'm not getting any closer to figuring it out.

I recently downloaded itunes again to my new machine just so I could buy the video for "getting the picture". It was annoying to read that I could only play that video on 5 machines. Soon the audio was in my wmp library and itunes will soon be gone. I'm not sure how everyone puts up with those restrictions. But I do think they have a great service and they make it very convenient to add the music you want to have.

Okay... so here's the status. I used the KennettNet software to move music from my iPod to my work computer... and it's working!!! Yay! I had uninstalled iTunes prior to the recovery so there was no issue with it trying to sync to my iPod.

I also copied all the music to my external hard drive so I have a guaranteed backup now!!!

Now I am going home to attempt the same thing on my laptop!

Thanks to all of you for your advice and assistance!
