MOTM bands

Post by Cabin Fever »

Hey all, I was killing time at work today. Thinking of someplace warm. I was looking up bands that have MOTM on their schedules.
I was surprised to see that the Boatdrunks have not been invited back to play this year. I have seen them the past 3 years and thought they were one of the best acts at the event. They always had some Coral Reefers playing with them.
I heard that they will be playing at MV during MOTM but not at the Casa. What's up with that?
I saw on their website that they are putting together some kind of Parrothead gathering possibly in Jamaica next January. I guess they just played a multi day show in Jamaica with Little Feat. That sounds cool.
Just seing if anyone knew anything.
Time to plan for next winter. Jamaicia sounds tempting. CF

I guess the lead singer of the Drunks wasn't willing to go that extra inch or two with the booking committee...

There are a lot of musicians that play in bars in Key West, but not for MOTM official events. Getting the Margaritaville gig might be a good thing for them...????? I'm gonna go see them. Not everything happens at the Casa...even some MOTM events are held away from there. The biggest one: the street fest on Duval.

They're a great band and packed M'ville every single night during MOTM this past year.

They are a great band and I wish they would stick around home a little more, I'm right up the road from them. They do a great new years eve party every year.

I wasn't aware of this! Where do they play? Is it at the concert venue?

in 2004, they played the side area by the entrance as the warmup band. The Meeting of the Mindless is a fundraiser/party the night before the Alpine show (The Drunks have played it several times) raising money for the Northern IL Make-A-Wish program.

Just checked their website, they are playing at The River House in Moline IL on July 27, 8pm.

I'm glad someone else noticed this. How many times can they book the same acts at the Casa. I like the regulars but please get some new blood in there. I thought that since there was new leadership we would get some different shows but it looks like more of the same. I don't want to rant because that is a thankless job but I also know that they have turned down a couple of the best bands I've seen including the Boat Drunks.

The Boat Drunks are great and their shows at MV were outstanding. And yes, Duval is the place to be. The bars there-mainly the Bull and Margaritaville are booking some great acts for that week. Also check out Monty's down at the lands end marina. They will be booking some PH friendly bands this year.

River House booked them long before the Alpine date was announced. It's a shame, since many of us from the Quad City club will be in Wisconsin that night for the pre-concert festivities. Normally we'd pack their patio and spill out onto the street

I'm kinda wondering if the Boat Drunks were dropped so Jim Morris could have 21 shows during MOTM instead of his usual 20....  :-?

Just kidding...kinda....

What an incredible out-of -the-way venue!

We saw KD Moore with Fingers Taylor there last year as well as some great local talent.

definitely worth the trouble to find the place!
