Just an assumption...he's old...

That's good to know. (Does it count for dryer-sheets too?)
Yes! ... and no.
You can use dryer sheets all you want and there should be no risk of losing absorbency. BUT... the fabric softener thing is so true! I HATED taking showers at my grandparents house because my grandma used fabric softener... and a LOT of it. You'd run the towel over yourself, yet still be wet! It was such a gross feeling. I'd rather have starchy feeling towels that absorb rather than soft ones that don't!

The darker the color of towels the less they absorb!
Also, if you do use fabric softener sheets, You must clean the dryer filter. The sheets coat the filter and stop the air from circulating!
Try this test, pull out the dryer filter and run water on it, if it stays on top and doesn't run through it, it is clogged and needs to be cleaned. Your clothes will dry faster!

A mixture of ice cubes, lemon juice and salt will clean coffee stains off of a glass coffee pot.
ginding lemons, limes or oranges in your garbage disposal will sharpen the blades and make your drain smell nice.
