i am a huge animal lover and read the post (s).

i too think that this bashing must end. at least she realizes that the dogs deserve a better place and is taking the steps to do so. she is coming here to get our advice to do what is right. don't you think bashing creates such negativity that it can turn a person the other way??? it's doing more harm.
with such a delicate subject, one should just hold your comment.

i thought bn was a place where one could turn to for help in troubled times. i'm really DISAPPOINTED in so many that made these remarks. it makes me wonder if i could ever ask for advice on something that may be offensive to another.

what 's wrong with you people???? SHUT UP IF YOU DON"T HAVE ANY ADVISE. she needs our help, not bashing.

Again, I think people want to help, many have said to call breeder and many have given rescue places. What struck a nerve is that she didnt just say she needed help with it, she painted a pretty bad picture. Using the word hate many times, insinuating that stepchildren are not as loved and making it seem like dogs are disposable. She was probably just upset and didnt mean it the way it came out, but unfortunately it did come out. In the same respect it tweaked a lot of nerves of people who didnt like what she said. You can be "DISAPPOINTED" all you want, but myself as well as others here do not believe dogs are something you buy and when they are as she put it "very good dogs" you just dispose of them. And maybe she does need a kick in the pants by people bashing her, treating such carelessness with kid gloves may not be the best.
Now can we please get back to the assless chaps debate?

I am NOT "disposing of" my dogs!! They are living breathing souls who deserve to be in a home where they're treasured- I realize that, and want to find that for them. I feel awful that this isn't working out.

We could change plenty of things to alleviate some our frustration (moving the kennels out of our way into the basement, just leaving them kenneled during the day instead of coming home for lunch, for example), but doing that isn't the best thing for the dogs. They need a home where doing what's best for them isn't an annoyance, and we'll keep looking for that as long as it takes.

My issue with taking them back to the woman we got them from (they were an oops litter) is that she didn't know littermates were a really bad idea either- the one thing I didn't research first, and one of the worst mistakes an owner can make (in case someone is wondering, they bond to one another more than to their people, and it's constant sibling rivalry here). It would be immediate, certainly, but I doubt it would leave them in a better situation in the long run. I feel too guilty right now to start calling rescues, but that will be the next step. They are staying with us until they can go to a forever home.

And is it just me, or did vagabonded post a picture of a tranny in chaps?

Well cocounuts, I wish you luck! Its not a big deal to me that you realized you are not really a dog person, even if you were one long ago. I used to hate cats when I was younger. I thought that they were just stupid and boring. Now I love cats. I really hope I dont get pounced (NPI) on for changing my mind on a type of pet.

Basically, if you dont enjoy dogs' company, I dont mind. They will be better off with someone who loves playing with them and giving them hours of attention. And Labs are smart. Of course they will know that they have switched owners, but perhaps after a few weeks, they'll understand why. Who knows what they really are capaple of understanding. 8)

I too was a little baffled of what I read on here just because you said you dont want your dogs anymore.

Speaking of that, I really hate my goldfish, and I'm looking for some good advise regarding goldfish in the plumbing system. Is it a good idea? I've heard you can freeze them in water and they dont know that they are going.

I reccomend something like this...

Title: Fish Sticks
Categories:
Yield: 2 Servings

1 Egg
1 ts Water
1/2 ts Curry powder
1/4 ts Celery salt
1/4 ts Onion salt
1 lb Golfish filletts or as many as you are looking to get rid of
1/4 c Flour
1/2 c Bread crumbs
1/4 c Oil

Prepare fish sticks at least 2 or 3 hours before
serving.

Break egg into bowl; stir in water, curry powder,
celery salt, and onion salt. Coat fish with flour.
Dip in egg; roll in bread crumbs. Press coating on
firmly. Heat oil in frying pan. Add fish sticks;
cook 2-3 minutes per side, until well browned.
Drain on paper towels, serve hot to unsuspecting children.
