I see the article, but no forum. Also I noticed that the article included a URL that doesn't seem to exist (
www.buffettfans.com).
So, where's this forum?

Just like people have been saying....half of these "rules" that the post gazette is making up will not be enfored on concert day...
traffic willl be too heavy and backed up to wait till 4
theres NO way that they can check EVERY CAR,limo, bus, etc. entering the lots to make sure we all have tickets.....
could you imagine that line of cars then
we might as well start lining up now if there gonna do that
and as for the cameras and phones...I sneek mine in every year....
I just stuff a camera down my pants, and put my phone in one of my "lower pockets"

I think maybe I'll get FutureHubby to bring his LiveNation ID just to see if it helps with any rough spots. Just in case, and all that.

Oh, it's his work ID. He works for a company that's part of Live Nation. (House of Blues)

A little news I heard this morning on the news (KDKA). Larry Richert came on as he always does to give a little whatever from the KDKA radio (
www.kdkaradio.com) station. The contact page:
http://www.kdkaradio.com/pages/16216.php
Today was about Buffett:
StarLake is really getting the news out there as follows:
Parking lots will NOT open until 4pm
No Ticket - sorry 'you can't come in!'
You are NOT allowed to park along Rt18 to wait for the gates to open
You will NOT be allowed to bring into the concert area: Digital Cameras or Picture Phones.
Out of the 3 the last one is ticking me off...since if you go on StarLakes website
http://www.livenation.com/event/getEvent/eventId/255968 it says digital cameras are allowed on the bottom of the page under permitted items, but about is says no.
What to do now? My hands are tied I have tried my contacts. There is a help page on this website, then click to email a question. I guess could write to Post Gazette too (
www.post-gazette.com), who owns the Pavilion.
Okay, now wait just a bleedin' minute. First off, we are meeting the person who has our tickets IN the parking lot. Secondly, we will need our cellphones in order to find him and the rest of our club. Not to mention that I keep my cellphone on me AT ALL TIMES due to my being my Dad's contact if he needs anything. Thirdly, there is no way in HELL they are going to be able to deal with all the cars piled up on the roads.... what drugs are these in-duh-viduals on, anyway, and where can I get some?
No, scratch that last - I'd like to retain all of my current IQ points.
Sheesh.

The offical starlake site only says that they will not open until 4pm. It says that every year. No mention about the "No ticket, no tailgate" issue -- which I believe they have touted before. I seriously doubt that they are going to enforce that policy, as it is practically unenforceable.
The camera thing has been the policy at Starlake for Buffett for a few years now at least. One year they tried patting people down but it was a half-a$$ed patdown and they could not do everyone due to the crowd size (unlike the Steeler games, where they give you a friggin body cavity search).
The Rt-18 thing is the Hanover Township cops. They say that every year. They "enforce" that policy from about before 1pm, but by then there are too many people to keep moving (not even counting buses, rvs, etc).

fanvan...two yrs ago (last time JB played Starlake), the cops were complete diccs....they initially said that they were not going to open until 4pm, and would not let anyone get in line (I got there one-ish). Not sure what their "policy" will be this year, but they seem to get stricter every year.
Yes, I have to agree, 2004 was bad. The cops kept holding up 4 fingers everytime we'd try to get in line to get in. A lot of people started partying down the road at some restaurant/club place. Eventually a cop came by, flipped the siren and said the gates were open. Problem was, they weren't ready for all the people and that was a cluster as well for a while. Here's hoping they're better prepared this year and let us in earlier. We'll be there around 12 but I'll be surprised if we can get in then.
Fins Up!

My crew had a great time.
We usually get to Starlake at 1:30 and are in line then. This year, the cops would not let anyone in line at that time and said that they were not opening until 4. We went back onto the access road, and there must have been about 100 cars parked on the road at that time. They were even turning away buses. (Note: I hope that this does not portend bad things for the future...it would really be bad if they did not open until 4, as so many people get there so early and the traffic is so bad as it is.)
Around 2:15, the cops gave up because there was nowhere else for the people to go. They started lining people up around then...we were about 50th in line, and I looked behind us 2 minutes later and there was a line as far as you could see.
Grill was fired up by 2:45. I was shitfaced by 3:30.....
The ride home was the longest I've ever had....traffic was seriously backed up on 22/30 due to that accident.
Didn't see any drama in the lot...just a good time by all.

29 hours until I hit the road. I'm getting extremely antsy.
Anybody have a suggestion for a good place near the airport for a couple of drinks late on a Friday night?
tailgating

I've been to this show every year for the last 8 years. They always say no entrance until 4 and I've always been inside by 2:30. I always buy a lawn ticket inside while partying. There is no way they can stop each veh. in line and check them for tickets. How would they get you out of there if you don't have a ticket? There is a line of traffic two miles long behind you.

ColdwaterConch, thanks for the info. Hopefully, this year will be a "breeze".

This will be my first time tailgating, though I've been a phan, and attending concerts, for years starting in the 80's. (Haven't gotten to one since the late 90's though, due to other things going on in my life. Finally decided, "what the hell, we're going anyway" this year after not getting tickets the past few years I tried on Ticketmaster.)
I'm so excited... can't wait... *maniacal scream*
Okay, I feel better now.

Y'know, I just realized that I'm selling my tickets to a Cleveland Browns fan.....
LOL...that's OK, cause I'm not a real Steelers fan anyways. When the Steelers play the Dolphins, I still put on my Dolphins jersey, and my wife and kids and inlaws all yell at me.

ROFL! Didn't I tell you? FutureHubby and I are both Steelers fans!
I kind of have an "excuse" since I'm not a native Clevelander - I grew up just across the NY state line from Erie, in that bleedover area between Bills and Steelers territory. But FH was born and raised in the Cleveland 'burbs, in a family of Browns fans. He saw the light when he was in high school, though, and has ridden the Steelers bandwagon 24/7/365 ever since. Always winds up having to "explain himself" to fellow Clevelanders, though. But there's actually a fair, if minority, contingent of Black & Gold folks around here. Got a couple of bars we manage to populate rather nicely during football season. FH and I are hoping to attend a game in Pittsburgh, in person, this year.
Oh, and he's a Penguins fan, too.

i'm going to try to put the steelers/browns rivalry away for a day...although, i have been known to get drunk and yell "here we go brownies" at the top of my lungs at pittsburgh buffett concerts in the past. it's all in good fun, though, i assure you. life wouldn't be very interesting if we were all cleveland browns fans...it would also be somewhat depressing. ;o)
anyway, made my jello shots today! if you see me stop me and i'll give you one. ;o)
can't wait for another two days!!!
ok, gotta go repair my sharksuit!

Landshark Girl, are you in the NorthCoast PH Club, by any chance? Just wondering - FH and I are new members.

Okay, I know I remember seeing something posted about this before, but for the life of me I can't find it now... what should I know about construction in the area to avoid on our way in? We're driving in from Cleveland on Friday, staying at the airport Holiday Inn (the party hotel) on Friday night. Trying to plot the best course...
Thanks in advance to anyone with info!

PennDOT: Avoid Parkway East Inbound This Weekend
(KDKA) PITTSBURGH Road work has been an ongoing project on the Parkway East, and this weekend the construction will continue.
PennDOT has released specific details in order for travelers to get around this weekend’s closures.
The inbound lanes between the Wilkinsburg exit and the Squirrel Hill on-ramp will close starting at 8pm on Friday.
The road closure is scheduled to remain in place until 5am on Monday.
---
If you are taking the turnpike and get off at the Pittsburgh exit to go to the airport, you will hit this.

Ah, okay. So if we do
this instead, I gather we should be all right?
