I peeked on ebay and someone had 4 tickets for ~$190. I'm thinking that might not be so bad until I re-read it and it said $190 each. It's a long time between now and June - lots can happen. People decided they can't go, ticketmaster releases tickets, generous BNers come to the rescue, etc. It's nice to have tickets in hand now but patience can pay off.FruitCakeDawg wrote:On ebay there's someone selling a group of 10 lawn seats for $1200.parrothd_mark wrote:This is definitely wrong. Exactly. I always like to have my tix in hand early. But I've never had to pay over face value. We had at least 20 people in Charlotte last year ask us if we needed tickets at our hotel the day before the show!Hockey Mon wrote:I peeked on ebay and someone had 4 tickets for ~$190. I get tickets every year for Nissan. I get good seats. Sometimes orchestra. Sometimes front rows center. I pay face value. I never get shut out. I haven't missed a concert I wanted to see at whatever venue for 25 years. I have seen Jimmy Buffett 50+ times at Nissan and Merriweather Post alone over the past 25 years.
I do not rely on getting my tickets via TicketMaster.com online or telephone ordering. If these are your methods of getting tickets and you were shut out, it is not TicketMaster's fault and it is not the fault of ticket brokers. Your primary competion for the tickets are EACH OTHER. Tens of thousands of you are all trying online and by phone at the moment tickets go on sale. People who do get tickets via these methods are outnumbered many times over by those of you who were shut out.

Scored six lawn and we're staying at the Best Western Battlefield Inn. I believe that's normally where the JimmyDreamz people stay. Moved across Sudley Road this year because the Quality Inn wanted too much money.
Hopefully Prince William County's finest won't screw up the traffic pattern like they did last year.

Research. Coffee. Patience. Layers of clothes. More Coffee. I locate an obscure TicketMaster outlet that doesn't have a lottery ..... get there 24+ hours early .... camp out .... make sure I am #1 in line. I only order two (2) tickets. If my friends want tickets they are welcome to camp out with me but I am not getting the maximum number of tickets ... that limits how good my seats will be.parrothd_mark wrote:So, that begs the question, how do you get your tickets?surfpirate wrote:I get tickets every year for Nissan. I realize this isn't an option for many people. I'm in a position to do it. Others can't and have to rely on TicketMaster.com. Just please stop blaming TickeMaster people. In the pre "dot com" era we ALL had to drive somewhere to buy tickets. And if you wanted great seats and/or it was a popular show that we all knew would sell out fast, we camped out to get the tickets. We all had to put in more effort than just clicking a keyboard from the comfort of our warm homes. Like I said before, your primary competion for the tickets are EACH OTHER.

Makes sense. Although I do believe that the scalpers (ticket brokers) do take a significant cut. I just hope everyone here who wants to go gets tickets.surfpirate wrote:Research. Coffee. Patience. I hope the same, but unfortunately it will never happen. Nissan Pavilion capacity is 25,000. Many (many) more than 25,000 people want tickets. And TicketMaster and ticket brokers will continue to receive (I believe) an inappropriate proportion of the blame for why people were "shut out". They are easy targets. Taking self-accountability for personal efforts and opportunities lost to get tickets is not as fun.parrothd_mark wrote:Makes sense. That is so true, unfortunately. I'm definitely not shifting responsibility for those of us who didn't get tickets to the brokers. Maybe they can be looked at as our friends, for those who really really want to go?surfpirate wrote: I hope the same, but unfortunately it will never happen. Nissan Pavilion capacity is 25,000. I look at brokers this way. They are providing me an opportunity to obtain tickets, and sometimes really good tickets, for a market price. There are two primary commodities that can be invested into getting tickets for a popular sold out show. Commodity #1 ... TIME .... camp out, be #1 in line, invest the time and you will get tickets. Sometimes great tickets. Commodity #2 ..... MONEY. If you are unable to invest time and energy to get tickets, then a broker can still get you tickets for secondary market price.
Many people however seem to feel that it is somehow their right, as a true fan, to be able to get tickets for the 1st sale (face value) price, ignoring the rather obvious fact that that logic works only if there are exactly 25,000 true fans that want to go to a show that has exactly a 25,000 seat capacity. After the two primary commodities of time and money that all but guarantee you getting tickets, come the less dependable commodities of LUCK and KARMA. Unfortunately (again my opinion only) many people rely on luck and karma than time and money to get their tickets.

There's gotta be one surfpirate in every bunch. Sorry to tell you this, SP, but you need to leap into the 90s! If you ask anybody at ticketmaster, they'll be the first to tell you that they prefer the online ticket sales: Fewer employees on shift, definitely fewer irate customers (in person), less chance of error (on TM's part), and usually the customer is the one who's wrong! Even their marketing leads everyone to the website. So, don't you dare fault any of us who try (and fail) to get tickets by going online....that's the way ticketmaster seems to want it!
Time to get back on your longboard, SP, and paddle out to the sunset awaiting the next big wave. But, I'll bet you're even further behind the rest of us when you eventually come back in.

Sure TicketMaster prefers online sales, and for all the reasons you listed.
Why do YOU prefer it? When it obviously isn't working for you for all the reasons I listed.

I counted (roughly) 200-250 tickets for sale at this moment on eBay through that link. Ignoring the fact that many of those tickets find their way to brokers via sales from individuals* who bought extras when they went on sale this morning, that is still only a small percentage of the 25,000 seating capacity. Yes. That number will get larger but tickets available through brokers are a small percentage of the total available seats.CoronaMargaritahead wrote:http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... ow+buffett

It doesn't make sense to me. Whether youi're at the box office, a TM outlet near the venue, a TM outlet an hour away, on the phone or on the 'net you're still drawing from the same pool of tickets. If it makes you feel good to think you're outsmarting everyone, knock yourself out.parrothd_mark wrote:Makes sense. Although I do believe that the scalpers (ticket brokers) do take a significant cut.
