I do not rely on getting my tickets via TicketMaster.com online or telephone ordering. If these are your methods of getting tickets and you were shut out, it is not TicketMaster's fault and it is not the fault of ticket brokers. Your primary competion for the tickets are EACH OTHER. Tens of thousands of you are all trying online and by phone at the moment tickets go on sale. People who do get tickets via these methods are outnumbered many times over by those of you who were shut out.
(off my soapbox now)
I realize this isn't an option for many people. I'm in a position to do it. Others can't and have to rely on TicketMaster.com. Just please stop blaming TickeMaster people. In the pre "dot com" era we ALL had to drive somewhere to buy tickets. And if you wanted great seats and/or it was a popular show that we all knew would sell out fast, we camped out to get the tickets. We all had to put in more effort than just clicking a keyboard from the comfort of our warm homes. Like I said before, your primary competion for the tickets are EACH OTHER.

Thanks. I'm a bit relieved now, although I knew I would be going somehow anyways. I went out to stubhub.com and someone was selling lawn tix and had over 100 to sell. WTF?
anyway. if you've got 2 grand to blow, there was a nice center orchestra seat for sale.

I am sorry, but that is incorrect. A TicketMaster outlet has a permanent dedicated line into the system. Connection has already been established and it's a even shot with everyone else for tickets until they are gone. Tickets are guaranteed to be pulled and printed right there (another plus) as long as they continue to be available.LIPH wrote:It doesn't make sense to me. Whether youi're at the box office, a TM outlet near the venue, a TM outlet an hour away, on the phone or on the 'net you're still drawing from the same pool of tickets. If it makes you feel good to think you're outsmarting everyone, knock yourself out.
All other methods rely on a connection being established first and then you begin the competition for tickets by querying the database pool of remaining tickets. Online methods (ticketmaster.com) cannot handle or allow tens of thousands of simultaneous access and database queries. You are put into a queue. Telephone purchases are equally risky. If you are speaking to a sales rep, then yes, that sales rep has the same dedicated line acces to the system as a TicketMaster outet. The problem once again is making the connection first, in this case geting past the busy signal and actually speaking to the sales rep.
I agree that those fortunate few who are speaking to a sales rep at 10:00:01am and those in the front of the queue of tens of thousands of online queries all have an equal shot at tickets from the availability pool as those who are first in line at a ticketmaster.

but going to a Ticketmaster outlet, doesn't guarentee that you will get a ticket, I'm not worried. Someone will be selling them and since Im not a newbie here, they know I'm no broker and I'll get facevalue for two tickets, it worked last year when I was new here, and I'm sure it will work again.surfpirate wrote:I am sorry, but that is incorrect. Nope. But I think I know where you are talking about, I've been there before. I assume they didn't do a lottery this year and rewarded those who camped out. I hope you were able to get the tickets you wanted. How did you do? How did the first person in line do? Orchestra hopefully.Carolinadreamin' wrote:SP - You weren't by some chance on a college campus in NOVA this morning?

Was 7th but they opened another window, so he ended up 3rd in line. The guy who was 1st slept in his car all night and just put out a chair. I hear there were some words exchanged. Only one person (sleep in the car guy)in line got orchestra, then next 3 were 300 seats and then lawn. We got 300 section. I'm glad I'm going and we get smarter every year. Do you think you can go there to get Charlotte tickets when the time comes?surfpirate wrote:Nope. But I think I know where you are talking about, I've been there before. What is needed is a responsible person to be number 1 in line. A chair marking your spot and sleeping in your car doesn't cut it. What that guy should have done was stay put in his chair at least until there were 5 or 6 people in line. Then that group of people can look out for each other and take turns staying warm in the cars. When I camp out and I am #1 in line, we get a signup sheet going. I tell people that it is ok if they sleep in their cars, but I need to be able to see them and I do a roll call every 2 hours all through the night. That keeps people from signing the list, going home and sleeping their nice warm beds, and coming back the following morning to try and reclaim their spot in line. I've never had a problem at any lines where I was the first person and was able to sort of lay out the "ground rules".Carolinadreamin' wrote:Was 7th but they opened another window, so he ended up 3rd in line. And yes, I think that you may be able to purchase Charlotte tickets at that location in NOVA. But I would check with TicketMaster first, things sometimes change year-to-year.

SP, congratulations.
Your tactics and perspective are spot-on.
Pay heed, pilgrims. You can get great tickets without mortgaging your soul to the ticket brokers. (Not that they are the Devil incarnate or anything.

Hey. Thanks for the words of support. I never intended to put anyone down really. I did say in my first post that I was well aware that not everyone is in a position to take off from work/school/family and camp out for 24+ hours. I am in a position where I can do that every year, and I have never been shut out and I have frequently gotten orchestra seats and even front row center on 3 occasions by getting tickets from an outlet. If you are not in a position to do this and rely on ticketmaster.com or phone line sales, well, good luck. It can still be done but as we see right here on these posts year-in year-out, an awful lot of people will be "shut out".bravedave wrote:SP, congratulations.

And incidentally, I see the same people every year camping out with me and we have a great, though usually cooooold time of it.

I am one of the lucky ones to have gotten through via TM.com. I had 6 people trying for me. At 10:10 I was rewarded with 6 Pavilion seats... granted they're in 305, but I don't care.
I don't much like scalpers, but let me tell you... the lure of selling my tickets on eBay was tempting. Not that I'm going to do it, nor would I ever. But, it's surprising what some of those tickets are going for. 2 tickets in section 304 are at just under $300... considering the seats actually cost $144 each... that's NOT a bad price.

Hello all,
I have lurked on the boards for years and finally decided to join. Typically I have no issues getting tickets on line through TM for Nissan but I did yesterday morning. I went from 1 min to 15 mins. Needless to say I did not get tickets yesterday morning. I was pretty bummed out and decided to take it out on my house cleaning
.
I read on here where to keep trying and you might get tickets. At 4:00pm I tried one last time to get tickets and low and behold I got 2 pavilion tickets. I was so excited my husband had to finish the order.
Good Luck to everyone else and See you in Bristow.

Ticket trade down - Pavilion for Lawn (possible)
I've got a friend in our group that was able to get 6 pavilion seats to Nissan in section 303 (he was supposed to get lawn but selected "best available" at the time)
I still need to confirm with him what he wants to do with the tickets (that's way I haven't posted on Ticket Exchange yet), but we're thinking of selling down the 6 pavilion seats for 6 lawn (trade plus difference in value)
I'll let y'all know next week.
