I would rather KW just be known for being colorful. Get rid of the "gay" term or "white" or "black" and just make it user friendly for all. This is not a racist or sexist statement it is meant to mean "why can't we all just get along"?

you couldn't pay me enough to be in the same town as spring break... :o

'course, as someone pointed out, a gay/l e sbian spring break is liable to be slightly more tame than your average frat party spring break.....

Because of human nature.
There is a gay nude bar in Key West that requires shoes to be worn by all patrons. When a member of The Society For Barefoot Living (www.barefooters.org) who is gay was refused entry even though he was "barefoot all over" , he was told by the naked and gay bouncer that someone there might be offended by the presence of bare feet in an establishment that served food and drinks.
The public display of sexual acts in the pub apparently were'nt a problem.
People can't we all just get along? As Rodney King found out, unfortunately not.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :D
No problem IMO. I don't mean to be stereotypical, but I've gone shopping with gay guys before, because they generally dress nice like I do. As long as their not hitting on me, I don't care. Different strokes for different folks. ya know? :pirate:

Key West has had a large gay population for YEARS!

Very much enjoyed the chicken portrait... them are one of the reasons dat KW seems somewhat Caribbean at times. Also there are a lot of cats running around there.

Probably the most exciting city in the US at this time is San Francisco and that has a large gay population. Sometimes it seems like that orientation goes hand in hand with being literate, well travelled and creative. But that is just an observation.

I think everone is missing the point of the thread.
It wasn't that promoting the place to gays was new and different, it was the idea of promoting Key West as a spring break spot for college kids that seemed out of character for the place.
It just so happened that the college kids they were courting were the gay students.
If anything, they are just showing preference for their behavioral and spending habits as opposed to those of typical frat boys and girls.

Try living here during spring break.
