I'm gonna wait to hear some Amazon or BN reviews before I buy the book. These books can be superficial and don't give you the facts you'd like.
I know Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Buffett is a friend of mine. Son, you're no Jimmy Buffett!

Vin Scelsa talked with Clay Eals, author of a biography of musician Steve Goodman on WFUV radio in NYC. Two hours were dedicated to music and interview.

I'll post the link when the show gets posted online. I missed it live by 90 minutes.

Great. I've listened to a few of these.

Our local paper printed the AP review of the book that was in one of Nancy's links. Nice article, with a couple of mentions of Jimmy.

His source list reads like a who’s who of
country, folk and pop music, with a dash of
politics thrown in. Among those who filled him
in on Goodman were Jimmy Buffett, Emmylou
Harris, Jackson Browne, John Prine, John
Hartford, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Arlo
Guthrie and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Here is the entire 4 hour show:

The link is listed as a zip file 8-11-2007

It's Vin's entire 4 hour show. if you have broadband it will download less then 5 min.

If on dial up, WFUV's website should have a stream of the Steve Goodman portion soon. 2 hours of a 4 hour show.

The Book is in it's 2nd printing now with 30 more photos and a bunch of new stuff. I haven't got it yet so now is the time I think.

While attending Mercer Island High School, Clay Eals was faced with a choice: take journalism class or join the school band. After a careful examination of class schedules, he realized that, by skipping lunch, he could take both.

Such is the nature of the 56-year-old writer who dedicated eight years of his life to "Steve Goodman: Facing the Music," an 800-page biography of a musician who, despite being one of the best-loved songwriters of the 1970s, never achieved fame.

Here's another blogger review that was published yesterday.

Don't You Know Him, He's Your Native Son

To call Steve Goodman: Facing the Music just a biography is to do Eals' book a disservice. Yes, it is a detailed look at Steve Goodman's life. It's also, secularly speaking, one of the most life-affirming books you can hope to read. This book is not to be missed. Goodman fans, and indeed fans of country or folk music, will eat it up; however, the book is a must for anyone who loves life.
