passport delays

Post by bixxx »

FYI my sister inlaw tried to get an expedited passport today, 3/14, told that even if you use a service, she tried the Sirius used for keith, it is taking 9 days minimum. Seems sprig break has overloaded the system. The services send runers to NY, Miami, Boston, etc.. and it used to be they would show with a stack and get them all approved. Now, there are som many expedite requests that even if they are approved, the gov can't print the passport quick enough, 4-8 weeks for regular requests now running 8-12, so, don't delay

When we had the kids' passports expedited last year, we were told 6-8 and got them in 3.

Another reason is that people have been told that they now need passports to get into Mexico and Canada. In my home state of Michigan, people are getting passports now for routine summer trips to Toronto, etc.

Good Luck!

Hmmm...I won't be needing mine anytime soon, but it does expire in November.

Guess I'll go ahead & renew it after spring break

My wife and I just got brand new passports for a cruise in a few weeks. She applied on 2/28 and got it in the mail last Friday.

Now, time to start collecting some stamps!

When I received my passport.... It only took me 4 days (with expedite service).... Because of the new traveling stipulations, I heard the service is extremely backed up.

Along with the fact that many are requesting expedited service even when they don't need it. :-? :-? If you don't need it for a specific date in the *immediate* future, save your money and use the normal service. It's not fair to back up the system even more for those who do need it.

Your only true guarantee of getting your passport immediately is to go in person to one of the designated spots...assuming that it is within driving distance of where you live.

we have seen great travel deals out of country due to people not booking as they don's have passports. Makes the USVI a great alternative.
