So, my job was "eliminated" today

Just another victom of the sub-prime mortgage meltdown. The good thing was that it came at 4:00 pm and I had been at the bar since 1:00 pm. I knew it was coming but just not so quickly. They did send me a nice email and a pre-recorded message on a teleconfrence for me and the others who got the ax to enjoy.
all in all, i'm in a pretty good mood, I already had some other things lined up, and I know I'm not the first. I made it 36 years without the pink slip, not bad.

Congratulations!
I got "the call" out of the blue May 2, 2005. In retrospect, the best thing that could have happened to me!
Enjoy your new opportunities!

Thanks, I always say "I was looking for a job when I found this one". I'm not sure what that means.
I also quote old "Tricky Dick" and say "you wont have me to kick around much longer"

Poet.
I'm not far behind you!!
I work for PHH Mortgage. It was announced Thursday that we are being purchased by GE Capoital Solutions & The Blackstone Group.
Today in the Philadelphia Inquirer, they quoted a guy who I have not doubt has a nice Golden Parashute say they would shut down our office in Mt. Laurel, NJ within a year.
The moral of the story, Don't jump into a job with PHH Mortgage.
Good Luck!!!

Sorry!! At least you had a little forewarning. If I was going to get this news, I'd like to be in a bar when it happened! If you believe in fate, or any of that other mystical stuff that I always find seems to be driving my life (I know I sure as he!! don't have the wheel!), maybe this is just a great new beginning for you. Not matter what, best wishes and major phin power to you!!!

Sorry to hear about the bad news.
I've never had a 'good' job that I didn't get laid off or fired from.
A job should be fun -- or else it's just work. (I'm not knocking 'work' mind you. It has its place.)
Sadly, I've outlived most of the employers who have ditched me.
But it's the stink-a$$ jobs that stick to you like a booger for 10-20 years at a time.
Remember your blessings, and count all your dreams.

Eleven years ago I got divorced, downsized and a DUI all within 30 days of each other, it was like I was in a bad movie. After that I opened my own business, got married to a great woman and stopped drinking and driving and life is awesome now. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to things. Stay positive and focused and you will be fine. At the time I hated my job, was miserable in my marriage and was partying way too much, so I kind of new I was in need of some changes and they all happened at one time and I survived and moved forward.
