OK, tell me I'm doing the right thing...
I let a marketing person convince me to dump Comcast for cable TV and
broadband and sign me up with BellSouth DSL 3.0 (NOT the Slowskis) and
DirecTv. I already have BellSouth for phone (local & long-distance). The deal
will save me about $75-80/month, but I've been Comcast cable/broadband
dependent for so long that I'm afraid I've made a boo-boo. I know a lot of
folks here work for DirecTv, but what about those who don't, but are just
clients? Are you happy with the product? How about "fast" DSL customers?
I have about 48 hours to back out if I want...

I just need a quicker processor and larger hard drive for my activities.
Looking at getting DirectTv and going mobile through them as well.
I am curious what Wayne and Penny have to say.
Is this my best deal?

I switched from Dish Network to Directv late last year....
I LOVE IT.....
My DSL is through Qwest and I love it, too....
The only problem I had with my Directv, they had fixed within a day......I seriously don't know how I watched TV without DVR.....

And very MINOR issues with service from DTV or Qwest. Bundling can save you a bunch - have our cell phones and home phones with Qwest, as well.
Had cable for television AND computer - too much down time!!

I have both... The main reason I got DirecTV was for the NFL Sunday ticket. Being a diehard Broncos fan living in Chicago, I have to get the games. YOU GET THEM ALL!!!!
The on-demand feature I heard is pretty cool, but I have TIVO, so it's kinda the same, and I wouldn't miss it. The one thing that's frustating is when it rains you might lose service for a little while, or when the dish gets convered with snow...
My DSL is through SBC, and I have zero complaints. Could be a tad faster, but I don't notice a difference when I use my friends Comcast.

I have DSL and LOVE it. I work for our local phone company so we offer local phone service, DSL for Internet, and contract via DirecTV to provide satellite TV. It really IS the way to go in my opinion. I'm not a fan of cable and have never been, even before I worked for the company.
We would get DirecTV, but we're in penny pinching mode so it's something we are just living without. However, if I could, I'd get it.

pay for a service call. (unless you have the Protection plan)MDown wrote:I have both... The main reason I got DirecTV was for the NFL Sunday ticket. Being a diehard Broncos fan living in Chicago, I have to get the games. YOU GET THEM ALL!!!!

you should not lose service in the rain..
the snow on the dish?? yes but not the rain
I have had service for five years and until the tree grew into my
line of sight I never had problems..
I moved the dish and .. No more problems..

Before I moved here I had a dialup connection to the internet and rabbit ears atop my television set.
Now I've got DSL and DIRECTV and love it!

We have DirecTv and Comcast broadband (well, and basic cable too, but that's cause it's ~$30 for both or $50 for broadband). You know the printer from Office Space? That's how we feel about the modem.
The only time we've had issues it was raining sideways- and my cable didn't even work in that weather.
