Ebay

Post by danielmorgan03 »

After I buy tickets I like to check out what they are selling for. Not that I am going to sell mine nor do I buy extras. At least for the Frisco show I have noticed that the prices are flat. The demand on ebay doesn't seem to be there this year. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

Long time reader...first post

Noticed on ebay demand is higher for shows like cincy where lawn tickets are going for $75. The Indy show though has lawns selling on there for as low as $58. I need tickets to both will probably pay ebay prices for IN, but will hold out for cincy.

As a side note, I just hope the tickets I buy off ebay aren't from TicketBroker...while scalpers, I mean, brokers are necessary evils it doesn't take way the fact the it is still an evil!

Gumbo- don't bother. There will be PLENTY of tickets in the lot or on the ticket exchange in Indy for face- at least, that was the case for the 10 shows I've been to there.

I know...I've been able to get them in the lots before...but my girlfriend is not too much into following Jimmy around the country like I am. (So I left her home the past few summers!) But this year she said she'd like to go, and she freaks out if we don't have tickets in advance...now if I can only get her to come on the board and read your post since she doesn't believe me!

I have an idea.. every time she starts to breath heavily about the lack of a ticket prior to show day.. hand her a shot of rum. she may still be stressed, but... tho some might call that "positive reinforcement" and then she'll start getting stressed about everything for more rum.. :D

Lol, I've never seen lawn tickets in the New England area for under $100 a ticket on Ebay.

This year Jimmy is playing in Foxboro and the stadium has almost 70,000 seats before they fill the feild with chairs. Jimmy is playing there two weekends in a row. The worst seats are still going for over $100 on Ebay. These seats are so high and so far away the only way the Phlock up there will know that Jimmy is on stage is if they announce it and the phlock will have to take the announcers word for it.

I'm 41 and thanks to BN's Ticket Exchange I'm going to my first Buffett concert, I may look but I don't buy tickets from scalpers. Not only have I NEVER been able to get tickets to one of Jimmy's concerts in the New England area through Ticketmaster, I don't know anyone personally who ever has been able to do so either. Lucky for you not to have such a tough and expensive venue available to you. :)

I did incredibly well this year by getting Nissan (VA) lawns for $74 each on Ebay. They run at least $99. Even other auctions I was watching went $180-210 for 2.

I've mentioned this before and it fits into my theory of artifical high demand.

Pittsburgh is the same way. Come a week before the concert and people are dying to give their tickets away.

I agree with you, and I think the trend started last year. We went to a show at MSG and were surprised at the number of empty seats around us (even though the show was "sold out"). I do believe the scalpers got stuck with a bunch of tickets.

This year, good tickets are available now on Ticketmaster for both Gillette Stadium and MSG, and have been for a few days.

Some may not want to admit it, but Jimmy's appeal may be slipping a little; at least among those that rode the fad for a few years. I don't mind. I fondly remember going to shows years ago when you could routinely get tickets for days after the on sale date (at least on the lawn).

Update:

I have a friend who was going to sell his tix to the Pittsburgh show...he is not really thrilled with the set-list and not terribly motivated to go.

So he went online to see what tix are selling for and decided to go to the concert and at least stay for the party.

What he realized...and what I've been saying all along...is that ticket demand is artifically inflated. Tix for the Pittsburgh show are widely available (I think that there are about 150 for sale on stubhub), and the only "expensive" tix are for the front rows. Even those are selling at about a 30% discount from years past.

there were PLENTY of good seats for the Atlanta show this year.. Imagine that, he comes mid-week to a venue that has crappy sound and no really good party parking lots (although we made one happen).

Jimmy is an outdoor event.

There was something like 917 tkts on stub hub this a.m. for the Camden show. I'm thinking that this is about a 20,000 person venue (I could be wrong though) so that being the case, almost 1/20th of the available tickets are for sale at inflated prices. I found that to be very interesting.
