That is exactly what some of the bars do for most of the big weekends/events down there.TommyBahama wrote:I tip based on service 1st....2nd if i'm buying one drink say appleton and coke and they charge 5-6 dollars i'll tip a buck...or 4.75 for a corona then about the same...but if say that same Corona or drink is 3-3.50 i'd give a five and tell them to keep the change..so sometimes bars screw there staff and themselves by raising the drink prices!!!..which i'm sure is done for MOTM!!

At MOTM 2006 I had a blast. Just a ball..... met up with BN'rs as well as people I didnt know.... and I drank. Alot! But I also made sure to get enough sleep, eat fairly regularly and pace myself.... well except in the pouring rain on Thursday @ Ricks....
but thats neither here nor there....
My point it.... you dont have to get fall down drunk to have a good time. I didnt drive drunk.... I didnt pass out on the beach.... and I remembered everything that happened..... a I still managed to have a fabulous time!
People who think Parrotheads are less than intelligent life forms are starting to get under my skin

Could not agree with you more.
Hey Topless- Mary and I had a blast at Sunny Jims' show at Margaritaville last weekend. We made it both friday and saturday. Friday we met up with some folks from the Sarasota club we had met at MOTM and we caught the Sauce Boss at the House of Blues. Sunny Jim joined us at the show. My first time seeing Sauce Boss, he was a ton of fun. Sunny Jim was awesome as usual.

Been back from KW for a week. Cannot imagine being there during MOTM! I am still recovering from just a regular vacation. There were 8 of us and it was a total blast. Couldn't have picked a better place to escape the long Michigan winter. We keep going back again and again. Stayed at Wicker Guesthouse on Duval. Perfect location for what we wanted to do. Highly recommend it, especially if you have a group of people. The Green Parrot faithful weren't too happy to see us drunk non-locals on St. Patty's day, so feeling unwelcome, we moved on and spent our money elsewhere.

It is a good bar, as long as you are respectful and "act like you've been there". Otherwise, like you saw and said.. the natives can get restless and urge you to move along to somewhere more in line with your mood.Flowerfield Girl wrote:You are right there. The reason we went there is that my husband and I were there last time and had a blast. Didn't think about that. And we were probably pretty obnoxious after drinking all day! But we did manage to party until the wee hours, so we couldn't have been too trashed that early.

I disagree about the drink prices compared to other vacation places. The Lazy Gecko at Happy hour is a great deal. What vacation spot can you find beers for under $4.00? Now Louies is expensive, but don't go there if you don't know that. My experience is that I've tipped a bar tender early very well and they take care of me the rest of my stay. But this isn't news if you've spent any time in bars is it?

Key West has so many identities depending on when you go there and what is going on. In 2005 with FF being postponed until December, many people who generally go to Key West every year for the quiet December weekned were "surprised" at what FF in Key West is all about. To be honest, it was a bit reserved as the croud was perhaps half of what it is for the Normal last week of October which I generally attend.

Jimmy can be proud, but oops! www.phil.com!![]()
And I've never been there, but I could see how MOTM could be a bit much to unsuspecting visitors to Key West at that time... I'd think it might be something some pholks might need to mentally prepare for!![]()
