The only thing similar that Fender shows is the Custom Classic, but the finish isn't there. It could be something from their custom shop, but most likely it's an older model. Fender changes their lineup so often, it's hard to keep track of all of them.
I will almost guarantee it is from the custom shop. No signs of aging on it to say it looks like something older.

Fender does change their models about every year, so it could be something from the last few years. But, an artist like Jimmy isn't playing a production run guitar, they are getting something from the custom shop to fit the exact specs they want.

I can play pretty decently with basic chords, but the barre chords are driving me crazy. Most of the times they come out sounding pinched. I've heard that it may be the guitar I'm playing ( an Ibanez PF3), but I think that I'm just doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Also, anybody know and sites (besides COBO) to find some good music for Buffett songs?
Move your index finder around. Try putting more of it on the fretboard, try moving it closer to the fret, try further away. Just mess with your positioning. The best thing to do is, grab the chord, then pluck each string one at a time. When you find one that is muted, adjust your fingering till it isn't, and then start back at the beginning again. Once you have all 6 strings ringing, just learn that grip/fingering. Barre chords are hard to learn how to hold at first, but once you figure it out, it is easy.
What helped me was just using my index finger to barre at different frets, without any other fingers. This helped me get comfortable with where the barre finger needs to be in respect to the fret, how much finger I needed on the fret board, etc. After your comfortable just add the other fingers for the cord.

It appears to be a 1969 Classic Telecaster. It is listed on their website and appears to be currently available in natural, they just don't show a picture.

Although Jimmy's is probably custom, a replica can be had.

I still bet anything it is from the custom shop.

hey guys. I have a very basic 6 string fender accoustic I bought some 10 years ago for my son, but he was really interested. Its still fairly brand new.
After reading a couple of your posts, I thought that may be a very fun way for me to relax away from this computer - to learn to play a few chords.
Any suggestions on downloadable programs for beginners?..flash files etc.
thanks, zp

I learned off of a Guitar for Dumbies book. Look on ebay or something for a used copy. It actually worked really well to teach me the basics. I recommend it, but someone else here may have a suggestion for a website.

Here's a couple of resources. I've been playing on and off for years. Olga.net was good, but the publishers got it closed.

For Buffett Song Chords http://www.cobo.org/modules.php?op=modl ... es&secid=4

For Chord Lessons http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/

For other research, lessons etc
http://www.torvund.net/guitar/oldindex.php

I just checked the links, so they should work. The Buffett chords are at COBO, and it's a backdoor unless cobo has reopened.

Enjoy.
