That's so stupid, they're worried about the amount of people showing up so rather than let us all INTO the stadium parking lots and off the streets they'd rather have us driving around and around and around??? All I can say is "They'll be SOOOORRRRRYYYYYYY!"
Pam...they don't care...they will just keep sending you past the Stadium........They can be Pr*cks....i've seen it!!....It's the town......if they don't follow there orders......they will not let other shows come to Gillette!!!.....As for the Patriots they are a big tax payer for the town and most the businesses there are season ticket holders....and it's a complete different crowd...so they do let that slide a bit as when they open the gates!!!......not everyone is partying and getting smashed before a Patriot game!!!
No: 999 out of every 1000 is not everyone.
???????.....I'm at the End Zone...so technically i won't be going by yhre Stadium!!
I will be there as well. Can't wait to meet ya if we haven't already in passing at prior shows . . . bloody mary breakfast? I assume you will be checking in as early as they will let you . . . like I said, the lady on the phone said 10:30 would bereasonable.

Dude, we have toliets, beds, and blender hook ups for like no more than 10 bucks over a spot in one of the other lots - - cool s***!
AND A SHOWER!!!...I should be getting there around that time!!!,,,,,I have cousins in Foxboro and a Brother who lives not far who is telling me that the town is trying to clamp down on all the drinking!!!.....I guess Chesney in July will be the test if they are going to be strict with this.......thats a 3:30 concert so if they use the 4 hour's before thats 11:30.....lets see if they open them at 8-9 or 10[/quote]

It's not just Foxboro Police that are like that. Sharon, Walpole, and Mansfield Polices are the same way.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Regarding drinking - I am USUALLY sobered up after 3 hours of dancing and singing that I can drive after Buffett . . . I take that responsibility; however, there have been a time or two where I have had to walk around Great Woods for an hour or two and let the trafiic die down. I have seen people (I mean numerous people) who are visibly still hammered get in their cars no more than 50 feet from the Mansfield police who don't do s*** but their job --- GETTING THE TRAFFIC OUT OF GREAT WOODS. During the tailgate the cops don't say a word (unless kids look underage) and after the show they just want people out of there. I expect the same for Gillette - or anywhere. I would expect people walking up and down Route 1 during the day with plastic cups with minimal issues as long as they stay by the woods just like a Pats game and after people will pour out down the road to 495 without issue.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

With this being an NFL stadium, tailgating should be no new thing.
Wait until they see the Phlock though, it will be a mind blower. I hope they hired the Great Woods consultants to help with their sense of humor and patience.

For Boston area phans, we salute you! In California, our Holy Grail of west coast shows is Irvine. For all of the stops we have made, from Ft. Lauderdale to Mountain View CA and everywhere in between, no on tailgates like Boston phans outside of our very own Irvine CA venue. With these being much larger stadium shows, you have to believe thousands will show early in the day, and folks on the thread are right, the gates will open before noon unless they want to overrun the area.

It looks like they have a special area for RV's and Buses, we will be there in our bus with FINS BUS Califronia plates. It is black and grey with "Margaritaville" on the back, and on the front windshield. Stop by and say hello!

So Cal Parrotheads on a 3000 mile journey to the Party at the End of the World!
Wow!!!! Thank you for the complement and I hope you have a safe journey . . . if you would like to travel about an hour further east and hope on the ferry in Hyannis please come down to Nantucket to my little beach shack for some oysters, tequilla, and beer . . .

Thanks for the note. My wife visited Nantucket last year and is dying for us to go. We have five days between shows, and other than seeing her parents in Providence, we want to go to Nantucket, the Cape, or Martha's Vineyard. Question: Our bus is pretty massive, it is a tour bus. Do you know if this kind of rig is allowed on the ferry? If it is too big, we thought about parking it then taking the ferry for the day. Which do you think is the better way to go?

Thanks! PS: We live overlooking the beach in San Clemente CA, and love beach shacks!

WE need your help......

I have seen Jimmy at ten + Great Woods shows, but I am not familar with Gillette Stadium.

We are bringing a 45' tour bus motorcoach to the venue. We are from Southern California and wil be coming in from the New York area and going to both shows. Our "FINS BUS" is a somewhat larger version of our old bus and I am a bit nervous driving it in without some knowledge of where I am going.

I see the 330 PM crap, yet we will be in the vacinity of the venue by 10 am. My wife and I are hard core fans, and will be at both shows with stops in Martha's Vineyard and Long Island in between.

Questions for anyone who knows:

- Does the venue allow Large RV's and buses?
- If so, is there a special entrance or parking area?

For any BNers at the show....look for the 45' Country Coach tour bus with FINS BUS California license plates. Stop by for a beer!
Will be looking for ya. (I lived in Chula Vista for a year a lifetime ago)
MRG,

Please be sure to stop by.

Question for a LI girl: We have heard the wineries on LI are fun to visit and we are up for a road trip as we have friends to visit on LI between shows. What do you think? I am not expecting Napa Valley, but want at least a good place or two to visit. Thoughts?

There are some pretty big bands that play out here (The Wailers, Little Feat to name a couple) who bring massive tour buses on the island without problem. It is expensive but I bet you can do it. The Vineyard is way cheaper for whatever reason . . . I think people here on Nantucket want to limit the traffic.

My advise is to leave your bus in Hyannis if you come to Nantucket or Falmouth if you go to the Vineyard and just walk around or rent a bike or get a cab - they are cheap. There is plenty to do right off the ferry anyways and the beaches close and so is my beach shack.

If you want to get way out on the Cape . . . about 100 miles from Gillette Stadium iws a bar called the The Beachcomber which is a must visit in my book . . . it is in Wellfleet. Great music. Great Beach below it (Cahoon Hollow) and great people . . . and the raw bar isn't too bad either.

Here is the NY Wine website: http://www.newyorkwines.org/index.asp

We stick around central NY for our wine adventures, but know some about the rest of the state. The Long Island wineries are a pretty long haul- up on the North Fork. If you are going that way anyway, it would be worth a trip, but if not, why don't you try the Hudson Valley ones??

Wineries in NY are still very laid back, but some are trying to take some tips from CA and the free tastings are getting fewer and farther between- but in our area, the tastings are generally in the range of $1-$5 per person, and the general unwritten courtesy rule in our area is when the tasting is free and the service is friendly, it is expected that you buy at least one bottle of wine. But if they charge more than a couple of bucks, or aren't super friendly, all bets are off.

You are lucky to have the bus, lots of room to bring wine home!

I haven't been there but I've drank a LOT. I like Pindar but there are many to choose from. Tour site- http://www.longislandwinetours.com/
Wineries - http://www.lieast.com/liwine.html

The eastern end of the island is very picturesque. Much less popluated then Nassau County and western areas of Suffolk County. The Long Island Sound is beautiful as well as the Peconic Bay.

Hope you have fun on the island!

Thanks for the tip on the distance and the wineries. We seem to be cramming in too much on these five days between shows and most likely will end up doing a bit less.

We are so excited about going to the shows, just hope Gillette does not mess up what we used to enjoy with Great Woods/Tweeter Center.

Hope to see everyone at the parking lot parties.

Thanks again. It looks like the best bet is walk on the ferry and leave the rig parked. I think this is what we will do, and appreciate your advice. We go out there A LOT. Our faves: Corey Creek, Bedell, Pugliese, Jamesport, Vineyard 48, Shinn, Osprey's Dominion....o hell, just drive down 25 and 25A and pop in as many as you can :) Don't miss the Old Field--you do a tasting in a miniscule little barn--very cute. Personally, Pindar is one of those ones I skip because it's huge and too packed with busloads of bachelorette parties & other big groups.
