Someday I Will...

Post by PhutureMD »

What sort of things do you all think about and think Someday I Will? Are they things within your reach (obtainable, but you just haven't done it yet) or some really fantastic dream that keeps you going even if you never do it? I have some of both, and cannot imagine how dreary life would be without any dreams, no matter how unrealistic. Just curious what you all may keep in that spot that spurs you on when things may not be going as ideally as you may like. Peace.

The dream that spurs on most Americans is the possibility of winning the lottery.
With those long odds, only a tiny fraction will ever see it come to fruition.
More realistic dreams can bring happiness much more frequently.

I quit dreaming for a different future a while ago, instead hoping the present will continue indefinatly.
One characteristic of mid-life crises is the realization that the dreams held onto for so long probably will not occur in real life.
Rather than risk become dissapointed, I started becoming happy with the present.
For change to occur, taking positive action on ones own is the best method.
Dreaming is for dreamers.
I WAS going to sail the world in a small craft, etc. but have decided not to.
Instead, everyday is a new adventure, and life is never boring.
If exciting changes happen, GREAT!!!!!!
If they don't, that's cool too.

Well said. I believe that true happiness comes from being content with one's self. That doesn't mean that you stop trying to imporve yourself but that you accept the hand that you were dealt. There is not a discard pile for life. If you have an ugly baby you still have to keep it. :o  8)

When I say 'someday I will', it's to:

-getting a little better at the guitar and starting/playing in a Buffett tribute band for fun

-find a job I'm passionate about, doing something I love and feeling like I'm making a difference

-meeting JB randomly someplace that allows me to buy him a beer, a small token of my appreciation for all the 'years, miles, tears, and smiles' he's brought to my life

-doing something that touches people's hearts and inspires them, or gives them courage, or makes them happy to be alive, much in the way JB's music impacts us Parrotheads
These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...

Go back to Paris.

Go back to Scandinavia, this time cruise it.

Live in the south of France for 6 months.

Live down in the islands again.

Live on a boat.

See my daughters find someone as great as their Dad and get married if they want to.

Finish those six paintings.

Ride through 1,000 dolphins again.

Go back to Prague again.

Go back to London again again again

Visit the Isles of Scilly.

See Hong Kong and Singapore.

Drive something besides an SUV... I wanna convertible!

Have a dachshund.

Not have to diet!

I've always liked the line I see a flying boat I get a lump in my throat...

I would love to go for a ride in a flying boat taking off and landing in the water.

In general, my someday I will amounts to having my own house, raised way off the ground, with a bunch of palm trees and bananas and plants that I love. And I'm kid of close to having that. Even is a hurricane comes. Palms, for the most part, are hurricane proof. Other some day I wills are coming true - like playing French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest - which more hope than I wills. There are more.

I was eating while typing. A couple of typos in that. Kind instead of kid. Some other in stead of, well, whatever that was that didn't come out right.

Move to St. Somewhere, buy a big boat, and spend my days listening to steel drums and running charters when I need money for rum. That's my retirement plan. 8)

On Nov 14 2005 I had a heart attack.
I revisited my list of fifty things on my someday I will list.
On Nov 14 2006 I was at my first Jimmy concert in West Palm Beach.

Make a list and look at it once in awhile--life is just a tire swing

PS I am living my dream 7 miles from A1A.

I couldn't have said it better. That's a great list.
All I'd add is that someday I will buy a beach house and a boat.
Too bad I don't know Parrotheads near me that are musicians.

Win the lottery and leave all this crap behide.

Realistically my wife and I always talk about moving away to a small town somewhere.

Some day we will.

Someday I will... Play Augusta National!

I used to say "someday I will go see the Masters," but for the last 5 years I've been lucky enough to have a Saturday or Sunday badge.

Another Someday I will... Someday I'll see the Phillies win a World Series and the Eagles win a Superbowl!
I wasn't a commode hugging drunk... I was God's own drunk and a fearless man.

two of my friends found me this *GREAT* shirt. It's a picture of a sailboat sailing on the blue ocean. The superimposed words say:

Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday

See?

There's no Someday.

In other words, DO IT NOW!

That being said, some things take time, but we can work toward them. :D

Soooooooo true!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with a top notch graphic artist for over 7 years. She has had this dream she told me about six years ago to just get in her car and drive to places across the United States and see if she can find that special place that feels like “home” to her. Her plan is to head across the south through Nevada, Arizona, Texas, up to Okalahoma, but to spend an extended amount of time in Florida. In fact her “vacation” plan is to drive down the west coast across alligator alley and down A-1-A to Key West and then back up the east coast. Her list of things to do include a lot of things from Jimmy’s songs; donuts at the Café Du Monde, drinks at Captain Tony’s, Conch Fritters, etc. Well, she’s going to do it! She leaves next week. I’ll really miss working with her, but I hope she finds everything she’s seeking. She’s living her dream and I’m really happy for her.
