The Cult Opening For The Who

Post by JustDucky »

European tour starting June 5 in Rotterdam. A bit odd but nonetheless rock'n'roll. The Cult will outrock The Who but will probably only get 30 minutes to do so. Anyone planning to go to any Who shows in Europe this spring/summer? I'm going to do my best to see The Cult when they hit the States again in support of their new LP. Excellent rock show The Cult are.

What I strange bill... I think they Cult would rock alot harder than the Who does now... I haven't seen the Who in 18 years however...

Saw the Cult in Chicago last St. Patricks Day!!! They were great!

Was that at the Vic? Isn't that out on CD? They put every US show on CD I thought from the Return To Wild tour.

The strange thing is I don't have one of those live albums but I have almost everything else they've got (except Live At The Lyceum and the Rare Cult Demos box set).

I missed them in New Orleans on Halloween - I was on tour.

Yes it was at the Vic... and it is out on CD... I think it was Instalive that did all the recordings... Black Crowes do the same thing...

I have that Rare Cult box set... There are quite a few gems on that!

Find that weird because Matt Sorum is touring with Velvet Revolver.

Matt's not the drummer anymore... John Tempesta (Testament, White Zombie) is drumming and he's pretty good.

As long as Billy and Ian are there, you have the Cult.

Wow! Thought the Cult could pull off their own headline tour?

The Cult ROCK! They don't need to do stadiums anymore. Not that they could sell them out - they are still a medium level major rock band. But they've done it. Now they do what they want to do. Not a lot of bands can say that.

Rare Cult is a great box set. My fave? The entire Peace album as well as Spanish Gold and Join Hands and the plethora of songs that were done for the self titled album - which makes it a double album!!!

I think their new LP will be more along the lines of Electric only with a mature snarl to it.

If that makes sense.

Makes total sense... I am looking forward to another US tour...
I got pretty wasted at the St. Pats show, but the CD brings it all back.

I've looked at several of the live albums but have never been able to make up my mind. So many. I know I want Electric Ocean and some of the other obscure tracks on it. But there are several shows that would be great to have and then make my own comp.

Do the records actually sound good? As good as Buffett's Tiki Time albums?
