no way.. even I can tell Anchor Steam VS Bud.. :P :P

My guess is that they all will identify the "real" brew easily.
The Corona should be simple as well.
My intent is to see if blind without ever having heard of Landshark (they haven't as of yet, except from me), whether they will prefer it over the Bud or not.
have you ever done the Bud, Bud Light and Coors light Draft test??

even the bartenders I know get it wrong most of the time

Import prices for a import beer, and yet its brewed in Jacksonville. Yikes. Its a decent beer, but it shouldn't cost so much.
The difference in the cost of the better quality ingredients that go into the finest local microbrew vs that of a Bud or Miller is roughly 20 cents per six-pack.
The difference in cost is tremendous- $1.50 per 12 oz bottle available in 6-packs only, vs 50 cents a bottle when purchased by the relativly common 24 pack on sale with a rebate to boot.
Most of that difference is due to the small scale of production and distribution.
Landshark Lager is manufactured in an existing AB plant, using ingredients that are no more costly than those in their cheapest brews.
The advertising budget is also smaller.
They could sell it at a profit for $14.99 a case easily.
That obviously is not their intent.
There is no need to cut into their existing product sales.
They would like to move into Corona's market share.
They might succede, IF they are priced about the same.
Below that, they will be looked at as a cheap imitation.
MAYBE once they get established as a brand, they will try to stay just below Corona's price point.
Corona is an import, FROM MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!
That means it should sell for LESS than an American brewed product!!!!
Imports from Europe are crafted by high-paid workers, and then shipped across the Atlantic. That is expensive!!
Trucking in Mexican beer made by Mexicans is cheap!
We are a bunch of suckers, that's why we pay "import" prices for south-of-the -border beer!!

Draft taste varies so much, depending on age, time since tapped, etc.
Bottled (and Pastuerized) is much more predictable in taste.
I could definatly spot a bottle of Coors light vs a bottle of Bud light.
On tap, it would be tough.
I still can't get over the pickiness of some people I see order a $3.50 12 oz bottle of Bud, when a 16 oz draft bud is $2.00. As long as it is fresh, the draft is actually better, having skipped that heating stage that the bottled stuff must go through.
On the other hand, I've had some really bad bottles of un-pastuerized expensive brews that were way past their prime.
Bottled Bud is probably the freshest brew around-maybe a week or so old when you consume it.

Copy that...I had my first, probable last bottle at Margaritaville Cafe in New Orleans.

Let's put it this way...I won't BUY another bottle. But, we all know that free beer is good beer...
Not always true. You should come to Australia sometime and let someone buy you a Carlton Draught. It tastes a lot like corn-flavored water, i.e., an Australian cousin to a Colt-.45.

(Yeah, that bad.)

I hate to say it....but I had landshark in florida.....and it was ok.....not absolutely horrible, but I wouldn't go out looking for it....lets just say my next beer was a corona.
Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way

It LOOKS like Corona and is marketed to compete with it, but really they taste nothing like each other!
I've tried them back to back at home without a lime, and Corona has a very distinctive taste, while Landshark does not. Some of you have grown to adore that uniquly Corona finish, but not me!
With no lime available, I'd take the more neutral Landshark any day!
Back to back with a plain old Bud, who knows.
I'll offer my friends a blind taste test here between those three and a REAL beer next month.

Comparing Land Shark to good beer is like comparing cold duck to Dom Perignon. At any price other than free it's too expensive.

Once you've had enough of any beer, or soda for that matter, it starts to taste familiar.

I've definately made the switch to LandShark over Corona.
Of course, I've consumed more of it that probably anyone in the country!!!

Tastes pretty good to me, lime or not, and I would not give up the opportunity to support Jimmy and his new venture.

We even put green dye in it for St. Paddy's day and called it "LandShark O'Lager!"

Too much fun!!! Sun, sand, LandShark...it's all good!

How many pennies per bottle could his cut be?

I disagree completely. I am in no way a beer snob. I am an AB drinker, so I drink Bud, Bud Light, and Bud Select 90% of the time. I don't prefer Bud as a draft. I think Bud Select and Bud Light are better as drafts. But, I do like Bud out of a bottle.

Back to LS, I can't wait to give it a test drive/taste. I hope it gets to Ohio soon. I wish they sold it at CIP, but as long as CIP still sells Island Ale, I can't complain.

Anyone who hasn't tried Beachbum Blonde, made by AB, should give it a try this summer. Another good beer.
