Most owners have a group of people to invest in a ballteam. He could get a BIG group of phans to help. I could write a check...... The banks only charge $20. for an overdraft. When the trib bought the cubs, they made us vendors take a 20 % cut on commission from beer. Great union? Huh? For that reason alone I am NOT a cubs phan. Jimmy or some other group bought the cubs Smaybe I'll pull for the cubs. Till then $%^&* the cubs.

And our ESPN ticker scroll thingy says Sam Zell bought the Cubs.

So maybe Ellen or somebody else in Chicagoland can sort it all out for us. [smilie=hammerit.gif]
Today before the cubs game on the radio-- they said no deal with the cubs will be complete til the END of the season when we have the world series parade through Chicago.
Now why in the world would the Mariners wanna have the parade in Chicago??????

So would Landshark Lager replace Old Style? The reviews of Landshark here haven't been too kind, but it has to be better than Old Style.

between-inning music with Mr. Utley on the organ, and Fins replaces Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the seventh-inning stretch.

If that happens, you may as well bring back Jim Jones, because a mass suicide will be in order for that.

Actually, I would say that the morning Cubs single game tickets go on sale is possibly the ONLY morning that is MORE frustrating that the morning Jimmy tix go on sale. You'll sit in that virtual waiting room for 7 hours, and wind up with some mid-week upper-deck seats for a Pirates game. Makes the Jimmy ticket experience look like a cakewalk.

I'd still be all for him buying the team. His two shows a couple of years ago were the only the only times in recent memory I saw people actually exiting Wrigley Field having just enjoyed the event they just saw.

I also heard Bill Murray is in the running. Are he and Jimmy acquaintances?

probably so. I thought Murray had a small piece of the Miracle. I know he had a chunk of the St. Paul Saints, so they might know each other from the Minor League Baseball Owners meetings.. :)

Corona is suddenly on the "outs" in Buffettland, huh?

or the Nationals... it's not like the price of either would be his entire net worth.

I thought The Nats deal was done.

Seems to be that the great time to buy is right before you convince the taxpayers and/or local govt.
to build you a new stadium, and Miami is right on the edge is getting theirs.

That sure ain't gonna happen on the North Side of Chicago :)

buffettnews could start a collection!

Ok lou, the new owners, all 13,000 of them want to make a few changes......

For the sake of baseball, I hope the new owner is a baseball fan not just somebody looking to make a buck (or a billion).
For the sake of the Cubs, I hope the new owner is a Cub fan.
