I paid $6.00 student admission using my college ID to gain access to King's Dominion Park outside of Richmond, VA in the summer of 1980. All rides and park shows were included with an outdoor concert by Jimmy Buffett that evening. I saved that ticket stub for years but it disappeared a few moves ago. And draft beer was only $1.50 for a large cup (now THAT I remember).

The first concert I saw was the "broken leg" tour in 1978. Lost that ticket stub as well but I'm pretty sure it was also under $10.00. Exacty twenty years later it cost me $51/ticket to sit front row, when I was able to get Jimmy to autograph an 8-track tape. That was also the show that Jimmy bought me a beer after kicking a beach ball off the stage and directly into my face while I was in mid-sip of a beer. :D

Damn, not only was it $11.00, but, if I read it right, it was also in Maui! What a deal that would have been! (plus PIZZA!!!)

That story cracks me up... Here's a bit longer version (I thought there was an even longer one, but if so, came up empty):
surfpirate wrote:Years ago I was lucky enough to be front row center at Merriweather Post Pavilion. The stage there is much lower than it is at Nissan Pavilion and is close enough to the front row that you can actually interact with Jimmy.

One of the beach balls Jimmy kicked that night went straight out and not up and hit me square in the face in mid-sip of a beer. Jimmy's reaction was great. He got this huge "OHMYGOSH!" look on his face and was clearly embarassed but from his view it must have looked pretty funny. At the end of the song he said something to the effect of "Buy that man a beer on me" to the crowd and "Sorry about that" to me away from the microphone. Sure enough, a beer was delivered by someone from backstage a song or two later.

I need to find a copy of that show if it exists (August 28, 1999). It was also the night Jimmy signed an 8-track tape for me and made a comment to the crowd along the lines of "Jeez - these things never die" as he held it up.
