I hate to say it, but I agree. There was some good stuff in it, but it drug on too long in certain parts. I've definitely read worse than ASPOL, though.

Definitely a kid's book. Oh well. [smilie=sadmeh-gb.gif]
it could be about an unhappy slum lord from the South Bronx who runs away to the Carribbean and buys a hotel...

Does it being a kid's book automatically mean it'll be bad? I mean, I read Trouble Dolls and Jolly Mon and ain't afraid to admit it.

The title is a play on one of Hemingway's famous quotes, "Wine not?" I've heard Buffett mention plenty of times, "I'm sure I stole this from somewhere." He did. Also it got me excited since I am a big fan of both authors, however, am a little bummed by the summary I read. Really hoping it is not a young reader book. I'm not big into those. Didn't like Hiaasen's, so pretty sure I wouldn't like Buffett's.

Since it's illustrated, I'm kinda thinking there's a good chance it's a kid's book. Nothing wrong with that; I'm jsut a little jealous that the kids get a JB book and we (alleged) grown ups have to wait for the next one. :P

True, but it's good to know when I have kids there will be another good book I can let my kids read between 'Jolly Mon' and 'Tales from Margaritaville'. ;)

For a supposed "famous Hemingway quote", I sure can't find it anywhere. Even if I could it seems to me to be too obscure, particularly for a probable children's book. It's a dumb title. Certainly doesn't roll off the tongue. My 2 cents.

Sorry. Maybe I should have said obscure. Reread For Whom the Bell Tolls and pay particular attention to how many times he uses the phrase "why not?". Then when you get to the passage in Ch. 29, pg. 329-330 (in the book i have) Anselmo asks Robert Jordan if he could have another drink. Robert Jordan responds "Why not?" Hemingway had later joked with Max Perkins that "why not?" had started sounding a lot like "wine not?" with all the drinking that went on in the book. I wish I could find the letter that stated that, but I don't have that much time on my hands. I just happen to remember where the passage was from the novel because I have read it numerous times and have talked with other people about "wine not?"

And Buffett was no doubt a Hemingway fan, so I think it is his clever way of paying homage to the man. (even if it is for a children's book) hopefully, if this book ever comes out he will comment on where he got the idea of the title and I may or may not end up sounding like a complete lunatic.
