Club Trini

Calling all BNers...my organization, a non-profit community mental health center in Northwest Indiana has an opportunity to bring Club Trini to town for a benefit show in August, 2007. The venue will be the large parking lot of a cool old bar in a historical downtown area, and all the proceeds will go to helping us develop and deliver drug education and prevention programs in two counties.
This is an awesome opportunity to see Club Trini up close and intimate and have a great night dancing under the summer stars - while raising money for a great cause.
Here's where I can use your help - besides buying tickets and coming out and having a great time; I'm looking for corporate sponsors. The only way I can pull this off is to have some corporate sponsors help us offset the fairly significant costs of the band and logistics (flights, hotels, meals, ground transportation, lighting, sound, etc.).
If any of you are business owners or have pull within your companies - I'd love to hear from you. We'll definitely make it worthwhile for the sponsors with special meet-and-greets, maybe your own area with private food/beverage, etc. We can work all that out...but right now I have to come up with capital. Since it's a fundraiser - we can't eat too much of the cost or it sorta defeats the purpose (well...kind of...being a Parrothead I'm still fired up about seeing Trini in my hometown!).
If you can help or know someone who can - please email me at bfranko@porterstarke.org. This will be a great way to Party With A Purpose. Thanks! And Happy Easter and Passover and Egg Hunt Day or whatever you choose to celebrate...Bob

Good luck Bob!!

I don't think I can help in any way, other than to say I'd love to / plan to / hope to be there if you manage to pull it off!! :D :D I'm in NE IL, and sadly haven't ever seen Club Trini.

Hey Thanks Tiki! There's lots you can do to help - once we get tickets printed you can buy one and then extort all of your friends into buying tickets by threatening to post those parking lot-tailgate pictures you've got of them!

And good point Ringo...am I making a bad assumption that everyone knows who Trini is? Mike Utley, Robert Greenridge, Peter and Jim Mayer, Nadirah Shakoor, Roger Guth, Tina Gullickson and John Lovell? You know 'em and love 'em!

Just picture this - my sister owns a dive shop on St. Thomas and plays their music all day long in the shop...doors open, warm breeze blowing in, Robert's steel drums, Peter's guitar...man. At least for one night we can enjoy a warm slice of that in Valparaiso, Ind...Can anyone out there help?

(here's my pitch...our county was ranked No. 3 in the nation in per capita heroin deaths recently - ahead of big cities like Baltimore and Houston even. Kids are getting this junk and OD'ing every week. Our position is going to be to build an effective prevention and education program to work with kids and families - FAR FAR beyond "just say no;" as well as have effective and affordable treatment options for folks - such as opiate replacement therapies and outpatient services so people can keep their jobs, families and dignity.)
