 No here. The fixings I put on it seem to stick better, and it doesn't taste differently. Plus I put olive oil in the water when it's boiling. :)

No.
I pour a little olive oil over the freshly drained pasta to keep it from sticking together.

Actually, you can also add the oil during boiling....same effect, adds flavor.

I still like to wash the starch, I can always taste the grit if I don't.

With any pasta that I cook I add olive oil to the water prior to adding the pasta and if it's fresh pasta I add just a dab of salt as well.

I always rinse it because it kind of skeeves me out to see that sticky stuff on it.....we had spaghetti tonight.....tried the whole wheat pasta for the first time.....no one else could tell the difference.....I thought it was kind of gooey.....maybe I cooked it too long.....

If it was gooey, then it was probably a bit overcooked.

That's another reason to rinse it. If you rinse with COLD water, it stops the pasta from continuing to slowly cook. Then you change to hot water to re-heat it. It holds texture better that way.

I don't rinse, but I do add a few drops of oil (or spray some Pam) in the cooking water.
As soon as it finishes boiling it gets drained quickly and goes on the table. Then it gets eaten right quick. (If you blink your eyes you might think it disappeared!)

always...

If you don't rinse spaghetti, as well as any pasta, it continues to cook...as long as it's left in the water...

if you add a few drops of oil in the boiling water while it's cooking, it encourages the sauce to slide off the spaghetti noodle..

plain water with a dash of salt is more preferable...rinse immediately after cooking, depending on how done you like your noodles..(el dente, whatever)

I was re-taught how to cook spaghetti from a Southie, and her marinara sauce also.

she wouldn't let me write it down...I had to watch her and memorize how it was done...

that's the way they do things if you're a Southie, Boston, Mass.

We had to do a bit of testing w/ different whole wheat pastas to find the one we liked. Barilla is good and they have lots of shapes and straight pastas to choose from. YUM! Can't tell the difference now.
