Was a nice family movie... I'm sure that it may have been discussed when it was in the theater but I missed that discussion. I'm sure that Jimmy had a blast during the filming and he is proud of the work his daughter Savannah did in it as well.

With Jimmy being the producer, I was wondering if that was his Cessna with the floats flying by at the end into the sunset. Also would bet the sailboat might be his as well.

Seems the Buffett faithful did their part to see the movie but it wasn't a huge success at the box office. If Jimmy backed it I would say it lost some money for him. One of the few business ventures to do that for him. ;)

My wife and I saw Hoot last night, and if we were young parents I think the film mite have held our interest. But come on you guys are to kind. Hoot was bad and Jimmy should stick to his day job. What he should of done if he was to back a film was to do the story of Tully Mars "Take Another Road" from the Tales from Margaritaville Book. I think it would have more meaning for the JB fans and would also provide some great location shooting.

I took my 11 year old niece to see it at the show last year. She wanted to see it because she read the book and loved it. After the movie was over she said the movie was horrible and no where as good as the book.

I saw it at the movies with my kids who were 9 and 14 at the time. We all loved it. They related to it right off as they read the book and are always outdoors in some type of adventure themselves. NO video games in this house.

My 5 year old liked the owls, but I didn't think it was any better than the old "Saved by the Bell" show, where kids ran around without any parental influence outsmarting the stupidest adults yo have ever seen.

Maybe every once in awhile he like to do something just for himself that he enjoys?

Mmm-hmm... I think I remember JB saying in an interview at the time that he wanted to make a movie he could take his kids to see...

True, Jimmy can do and will do anything he likes. And if he wants to throw a lot of money away to make a very average at best movie that’s fine. It doesn’t mean that because Jimmy’s name on it makes it good nor do I have to like it. ( Now you’ve done it ….this is the first and second time I’ve ever said a bad thing about Jimmy)

It was cool for us desert folks to see the aerial shots of the everglades.....nice scenery....
My husband asked how hungry Robert Wagner must be to make that movie....he was very underwhelmed!

I'm sorry DAB - that wasn't my intention. It's just good OR bad I just don't believe that everything he does has to be about "us" - you know? :D

We showed it to our afterschool kids earlier this year.
They really loved it, but they were ages 4-10?

I guess the problem I have with the film is that I’ve come to expect quality when I see Jimmy’s name on anything, weather it’s music, radio, cloths ..ect. The message itself is a great one, the act of taking care of the environment, but after that the film falls short of everything I come to expect from Jimmy. But if you like the film and the kids like the film that’s great. My kids are college age and maybe I’ve turned into my worst nightmare….an old fart

true dat! and if we all liked the same things, it'd be a BORING planet. :D

I think it was okay for what it was: a kid's movie. Mine were too old to appreciate it. Yeah, I think I've become an old fart, too..... :o :o

I think my family watched the movie in the exact way that JB intended it. For kids to be able to spend an evening with their parents without having to subject them to language or adult scenes.
It also put JB's music out to a young audience, and the results/profit from that may not be accounted for a few more years..so I think all-in-all it was a success for him..and the family.
The movie itself was very cheesy..but fun to spend the evening with the kids.
AND the movie industry had to account for my 4 tickets being purchased for a family film..so maybe it will prompt more in the future 8)
We will also most likely buy the dvd just to support JB..and place it in the JB collection.
I also love Floridays as a laid-back-wanting-to-go-to-florida-and-worship-the-sun song.
