Nope..
This explanation is pretty good:
So what makes them cool? Recording something is a snap -- you pull up the schedule on the screen and hit record once to record the show, record twice to record the series. You can fast forward, pause, rewind, etc. at different speeds. The quality is a s good as what was broadcast. There are no tapes to buy or rewind. You can pause live TV and go to the bathroom. You can rewind live TV if you have been watching it for some time to review something you missed. Some models will even start to schedule shows based on what you watched.
In short, it can change the way you watch TV. No more commercials. You never miss your favorite show. You can watch the show anytime you want. Some are integrated witha DVD recorder for longer term storage.

Only has HDTV on 1 of his 5 sets.
The other 4 sets are mainly for outside during the summer. Usually keep one in my garage. And usually the other 3 will go out on my deck so I can watch 3 different sporting events while lounging in my swimming pool.

TiVo invented the machine and is a brand, DVR is a generic term for the concept. btw the big guy funded TivoSMLCHNG wrote:Same thing.. TIVO is just a brand name.MA_Buffett_Fan23 wrote:What's the difference between TiVo and DVR?!7lords wrote:I have 2 TiVo's and a Panasonic Showstopper so I'd say YES
