My 96 Mustang was rear-ended by a commercial vehicle which is accepting blame. They came out to eval. and said bent frame, totaled and asked me what I felt the value was. I ran it on several value sites and 5200=5600. It was in very good shape before the accident. I'm trying to find something comparable on e-bay.
The estimator thinks that if I push for this value they will want to fix it as then repairs, including frame will be less then 75% of book. Bumper will need to be replaced, trunk is pushed in and passenger window has some buckling issues. Originally he said frame machine time was $3500. Is this so? I don't want an older car with a frame repair. Would you fight them over the value or just accept whatever they offer.

Whose estimator? I would have a place of your choosing evaluate it to make sure you are getting a fair and accurate assessment of the damage.
I had an accident 10 years ago with over $6000 in damage, and a slightly bent frame, but because the car was only 18 months old, it was not a high enough amount to consider it totaled for insurance purposes. I did not repair that car.

This is the only Ford about which I can say such glowing things. I've had my Mustang for over two years. I bought it with high miles and put even more on it. It has held the mileage very well and required little to no maintenance. The car still looks(minus the new damage)excellent and runs the same. I can't say enough about this particular motor for the GT. The 96-99 period and would definitely buy another.

Owch....
Buckling at the passenger side...not good....Unless there is some unbeleivable sentimental value to the car (like losing your virginity in it...Your baby was delivered in it....etc...) GET rid of it!!!!!! FIGHT for the max. They owe you the same transportation that they wrecked.....
