Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Coast of Marseilles..... how could I forget that one??~Hippolyte~ wrote:I was going to say all she missed was Here We Are, but Coast of Marseilles would be a great addition too.trojan_sixtyone wrote:My god, all that's missing is 'Coast of Marseilles' and it would be FLAWLESS!SchoolGirlHeart wrote:hmmm, lessee......
open with Only Time Will Tell (although that was the opener not so many years ago...), Barometer Soup, Migration, Stars on the Water, Blue Guitar, etc..
Bama Breeze.... duh....
throw in School Boy Heart, Far Side of the World, When the Coast is Clear, Changing Channels, Blue Heaven Rendezvous, If It All Falls Down, Love in the Library, Cowboy in the Jungle, Barefoot Children in the Rain, Nothing But A Breeze, Wheel Inside the Wheel, Everybody's On the Phone, in some combination....
Don't even think about messing with A Pirate Looks At Forty, OPH, or SOASOAS
Close with Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On or Tonight I Just Need My Guitar...
ahhhhhhh............
OTWT is the best opener, concert or album, IMHO - EVER!!I also like Scarlet Begonias, they'd be a Grateful combo!!Patriotic Phlocker wrote:Does anyone else like Uncle John's Band or is it just me.
Good job SGH!!
I figured Here We Are was a given, right before FINS...
Uncle John's Band would be COOL!!

Everyone posted what songs they want to hear. My question now is - what song, whether you want to hear it or not, do you think he will start with? Historically, he seems to like 1) Brown Eyed Girl; 2) Piece of Work; and 3) Great Heart. If I were in Vegas and had to bet, I would say POW. I still think Great Heart is the best opening song, but the question is what song would I bet on.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Picture this:
At 8:08 p.m., all the stage lights go out. Slowly, purple and red lights come up, revealing one of Jimmy's patented beach scene sets. Mr. Utley is at the piano and begins to play the opening notes of "Here We Are." He is joined by the rest of the Coral Reefers and then finally Jimmy walks out on stage and sings the song.
As the last refrains of "Here We Are" begin to die away, the first notes of "Great Heart" begin to pound. The stage is now fully lit and Jimmy is soon rocking...
Something a little different, but I think it would be pretty cool.

I'm dying to hear "Livingston Saturday Night" in person, and I personally think it'd be a GREAT song to start a show with. But, without the full horn section, songs like that, "Far Side of the World", and "Saxophones" may never be played live again. At least not at a large amphitheater/stadium show.hoover wrote:How about "Kick it in Second Wind", "Ragtop Days", "Livingston Saturday Night" or maybe even "If the Phone doesn't Ring"?
And honestly, would "Livingston Saturday Night" be the same without those horns blazing the background? I hate to say it, but I just don't think so.

Personally, if he must play Margaritaville after roughly 154,321 times he has played it live I would love it if he started off the show with the lost verse. Why? Simple: So I can walk in to the show about 9 minutes late with all the other non - SYKBH folk and enjoy one extra shot and a cool beer in the parking lot "the way that it used to be . . ."
Then he can play Fins . . .
Then he can play Here We Are (sorry, already becoming too predictable so I reversed the two)
And then he can play 27 acoustic solos from the 70's and eary 80's and finish with Take Another Road or Tin Cup.

the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

Maybe he could close with 'Goodnight, Irene' and come full-circle!
