Kids and teachers at my daughter's school have to wear closed heel and closed toe shoes. No flip flops, no Crocs, no sandals. Either athletic-style or casual style shoes with no more than a 1.5" heel (for the kids, teachers can wear up to 3" I think). Students can't wear boots, either (they have to change into shoes if there is snow). No high-top sneakers unless for gym or athletics and shoes should be of a natural color (white, blue, black, brown, etc.) No funky colors or patterns.

I understand for the rules for students---I also work at a Catholic school, but some of the teachers wear Image.
Not professional, but if they can wear them, why can't we wear nice flipflops??

I agree. If teachers can wear that picture, then flip flops should be allowed. Don't they both make the slappy sound?

Everyone's always had to wear closed shoes at her school, teachers and students alike, so I guess I'd think if you expect students to do it, teachers should set the example.

I was *lucky* enough to be on our school district's dress and grooming committee to help establish the guidelines for our district.

For our committee, we drew the line at the thingee between the toes, so that the rubber beach flip flops would not be allowed, and the principals would not have to be making judgement calls on which were okay and which weren't.

I was one of the ones who disagreed because there are lots of dressier shoes that have the thingee between the toes, like this:

And even these are way dressy:

Our superintendent was big on the safety thing also.

With the principal I started working with, she was an ex-nun and very strict.
We all had to wear professional shoes and hosiery---every day.
Not socks--HOSIERY. :D
This principal--about anything goes expect flips :-? :-?

I love school uniforms......sure would have solved a lot of disputes we've had in the past. Fortunately, Caitlin has kind of settled in to her own style now and we don't have many fashion disputes anymore.....

Fortunately it works well, and the kids at her school, including my daughter who is the MOST expressive person you will meet, have found ways to express their talents and personalities in means other than through their clothes and shoes. :D

Everyone wears uniforms at the school I work at----and at the time Ryan was there, all shoes had to be solid Red, White or Blue or combinations of those colors.....really hard to find in boys shoes

Crocs can make the same noise as regular flips, sadly

YUP!!!!
i thought so too, still do actually, but have you ever tried them? soooo comfy!

i would rather hear flipflops over heels any day!! :D
That's another problem---I can't wear most sandles because my foot is narrow---the thingy between the toe helps keep them on :D :D :D
and Crocs are wayyyyyyyyyyyy to wide for me
Get a doctor's note :D :D :D :D :D
