You mean come out of the closet? My family really does think he does bat for the wrong team.

Yep, like Math Suks, Why Don't We Get Drunk (and Screw), Domino College, etc. Everytime I've seen Buffett there's been just as many college aged kids as their were older people so I don't think his audience is nearly as segmented as you suggest.

If there is one thing i've learned from visiting this site often is that even though we are all Buffett fans, our other music opinions differer alot.

At least were i live country music is really unpopular. If i saw Kenny Chesney on stage with JB i would leave to go to the bathroom and hope he was gone when i got back. I dont care for him or his music. If I pay $120 to see Jimmy Buffett, I want to see Jimmy Buffett.

Two comments.
If I can ever afford to get to another JB concert - I want to hear JB - not anyone else!

Also, I think JB is in GREAT shape. He actively surfs, and does other sports. And who cares if he is balding - the curls are still sexy! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

I don't think he'd get booed.
I mean they've already performed together and I'm sure he was not booed.
Oh and let's not forget that Jimmy is short and bald himself.

If most Parrotheads who bash Kenny or other "trop rock" performers had any musical talent to speak of, I'm guessing they'd probably be making tropical music themselves.

The more tropical music the better is how I feel!!!

Chesney is hardly 'trop' rock...it's country. I don't like country...so I don't like his music....glad other folks do. I just dislike the implications that if you like JB you have to like KC....it just isn't so.

I also won't be buying JBs latest CD with George Strait for the same reasons.

Perfectly fair.

Likewise (in reverse, I guess) I dislike some the implication (not by you, but by others) that if you're a JB fan you should hate KC for "copying"...

to each their own, I say.... that's the beauty of music! :D

this battle is pointless on BN.

too many people have preconceived notions that all KC sings about is a sexy tractor, when he himself called it one the silliest songs he's ever done.

the fact of the matter is, you don't have to compare KC to JB. both are completely different and very talented musicians. does some of KC's music sound like JB? maybe so. but when did buffett get the sole rights to singing about a friggin' beach? i must have missed that.

you can't blame a guy for singing about his new favorite way to spend time -- in a warm climate. KC loves the beach scene like the rest of us, and has more talent than the rest of us to sing about it.

so what if you don't like it?

KC and JB would be a helluva show, despite the protests from closed-minded BN'ers who feel that KC is doing nothing but imitating sir Buffett.

the stage production of each is incredible, and i'd be the first in line to buy a ticket.
