That's the thing about setting a reserve on eBay. People set the reserve at what they WANT to get it of it or what they personally THINK it's worth instead of setting it at something realistic. And most of the time that results in not selling much stuff!

In that case you should do the man a favor and go slap some sense into him for a while. Or just lift the book off his hands, sell it on eBay for a reasonable price, and send the dude a check with a note telling him to be happy with it! ;)

Hi, and thanks for your interest in the item. The reserve for this item is $900.

Glad to hear you're a Parrothead. You may not believe this, but I used to have a loveseat from his house. When my sister was working for him, her boss was told to discard this loveseat, and she told my sister about it, who gave it to me. I had it from 1998 to 2004. It was very nice, but I passed it to my family. She also got lots of toys and clothes that his kids grew out of, and passed it on to my sister for her kids.

I just lucked out with this book, though. I'm sorry I have to sell it.

Anyway, just thought you'd like the story.

I have been a Parrothead since before we had a "name". I met Jimmy for the first time this past Feb... he autographed several item for my friends and I. Sorry.... but good luck with getting $900.

Thanks for the immediate reply tho..... :)

Well, if a BOOK is going for $900 in this guy's opinion, the loveseat will probably go for $50,000 (but it will include an affidavit and notarization!). And if the loveseat is AUTOGRAPHED, geeze, probably $300,000.

"My sister used to work for the Buffetts and I have a signed affidavit--which you can contact the lawyer to verify--that Mr Buffett's ass sat in on numerous occasions. I also have verification from scientists stating that Mr Buffett left behind flatulent residue, making this a one-of-a-king collector's item!" ;)

$900?????????????

Jesus, Mary and Joseph! That settles it. I'm going to Jimmy's old house in Snowmass tomorrow and dig up some dirt, pick up some branches, scrape some paint off the front door, find a few rocks, and start listing them all on eBay! Not only will I get affidavits from the big bucks attorneys in Aspen, but I will also get notarized documentation from real estate agents in the valley, verifying that all of the above said items were gathered at the old home and at one time were either stepped on, looked at, or thrown by Jimmy.

This is more fun than we should be allowed to be having without a pre-concert tailgating party and some music to follow!!

I think it is real!

nah

Jimmy has alot of "stuff" to give away doesn't he? Nothing is valuable to him. Loveseats, kids clothes, personal signed books.
I think just "maybe" some stuff would have been donated by his wife over the years, and maybe even given away to family friends and such, but I am having a hard time seeing JB going through the kids clothes and passing them to the housekeepers family or whatever the screwy story was. What's keeping the housekeeper from buying at the local second hand store and claiming JB kids wore them?..we are placing alot of faith in the housekeeper.

I do have a funny/strange/weird John Denver story though.
In my business, I do 360 virtual tours for real estate agents in the area, and had a chance to do a home that the agents referred to as the "compound". The home is in the mountains of western NC, with incredible mountain range views. The story is: In this "compound", John Denver would come into the home to perform with friends and fellow "spaceship" worshipers.
There was something that looked like a helicopter pad outside the home, and they supposedly would gather around this place and wait for space ships to land. (I love this story). There was wooden seats all around a firepit that appeared to have been there for years.
Anyway, there is suppose to be some kind of documentation of the events in some book..maybe someone out there knows something about this?
When I was at the home, on the shelves in the main gathering area (they were calling it the living room to sell the home as a residential home), but it had a small stage in the "living room" and a large rock fireplace. Beside the fireplace was large amounts of shelves, and around 5 or 6 John Denver books lined up across one of the shelves.
Not sure if any were signed, or even what they were doing there...but that's the story.
The home burned to the ground before it could sell..most people around here think it was an insurance deal.
I need to find those pictures if for no other reason but to give a visual to this bizarre story.
I took a couple of hundred photos of the home. If I remember correctly, it was like 7 or 8 bedrooms, 4-5 bathrooms, and all the rooms were shaped very weird.
That was 5 or 6 years ago.

You bet this was fun, and thanks to you for starting it. Also thanks to a couple of others I was having so much fun that I couldn’t even watch 24 last night. I woke up this morning and went right to the computer to see if the shenanigans had stopped, I was glad to see you were one of the last to post, how fitting. By the way I would really like one of those rocks!!!!!!!!

Lordy, Lordy, we all need some comic relief today! This is the best SPEW story on BN since Bubba was spotted on the gulf coast personally buying USED appliances for a family member.

Personally I think the seller is MONK. This guy/gal is a trip. I've done a lot of ebaying, but this cat takes the cake. I did buy a JB autographed book a year / 18 mos. ago with a page long inscription, but it was from a book dealer in Marathon with tons of feedback (100%) and all selling books. It also came with documentation. And it was a he!! of a lot cheaper than $900.

I used to be an HR manager for a small hotel group and heard today that Bubba is checking in in a few days. I think I'll call them back and see if the housekeepers can save all the used kleenex and toenail clippings for me ... I'll ebay those treasures and be set for the Belly Up this December. LOL!

Just an update with 2 days 23 hours were still holding at $213.50 with 8 bids. Still a far cry from Nine Hundred Dollars Reserve price. It's still a little early but it looks like he mite be eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches next week.
