Maybe it's just me... but would anyone else like to hear more of Mr. Buffett on Radio Margaritaville? I don't know about you, but 90% of the time my sirius receive sits in my car. And planning trips when concert replays are on is a bit difficult. I would love to flip over more often and catch rebroadcasts and more than just the "buffett buffet" .... Anyone Else..???

Re: Radio Margaritaville
I like the mix of songs they have on Radio Margaritaville, but I would like to hear a little more Buffett here and there. Does Jimmy help decide what songs play or does someone else do that?parrothead597 wrote:Maybe it's just me... but would anyone else like to hear more of Mr. Buffett on Radio Margaritaville? I would like less myself. Back in the pirate radio days, there was a lot more variety. Sunny Jim, Barefoot Man, the Coral Reefers and a lot more Mailboat Records music was played. The Coral Reefer hour was hot. I have been becoming more and more annoyed with RM since they moved to Sirius.

I love RM and I love the live concerts and concert replays. But I do have to confess that I'm growing a little tired of the same Buffett songs being played from the same Buffett albums over and over. Just how many times do I need to hear "Southern Cross, LIVE at Fenway Park" or a track from the latest studio album?
I'd really like to hear more of his older recordings, studio or live versions, that we rarely get to hear on either regular radio or on RM. Enough of the same ol', same ol'. That's really my only criticism.

I'm growing older, but not up!

I guess I fall into the Pirate camp. I really enjoyed RM before it join Sirius radio. You had more fun programming, like The Stories We Could Tell, Bubba Swartz, The Down South Radio Hour plus you had more demos, songs that never made it onto any album, etc. It seemed to be more about playing music that Jimmy liked, as opposed to just so much of the newest CD of Jimmy's.

and to answer the initial question/query....that's why I bought an iPod instead of satellite radio. I've limited my shuffle options to almost all my Buffett and a few select artist that fit that same genre
does mean I need to be close to my computer at concert time though

Howard (no "K") Stern has two channels on Sirius.
NPR has two as well.
Playboy has one, but only needs 1/8 of a channel if that.
Eminem has only one, but who would have ever thought?
I believe Jimmy deserves two.
One that would be all Buffett, all the time, just like Elvis 13,
and a second that would be zero Buffett, but all the other RM programing type stuff that alot of us love.
Remember, JB sells a lifestyle, and that goes beyond his own music and that of the Coral Reefers.

Actually I like Radio Margaritaville. I don't subscribe to Sirius, I just listen to it on-line while I'm working. I like the mix (and the sex!
ha ha) of songs. Not always a lot of Jimmy, but more than my local station plays. And, every afternoon at 4pm, I get to wind up my day with the Buffett Buffet.
With a little love and luck, we'll take the sky!
